Car was on BAT in 2017
bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-jaguar-xke-roadster-3/

Sellers description:
Lot #6270
Sold On 10/10/17 For $46,666
Seller: Nic_V21
Location: Boulder, Colorado 80301
Chassis: 1E12474
74,458 Miles Shown
4.2L Inline-Six
4-Speed Manual Transmission
Believed Originally Opalescent Maroon over Black
Longterm Storage
Corrosion Present
Engine Turns Freely
Private Party or Dealer: Private Party

This 1967 Jaguar XKE Roadster is a Series I example that was put into storage approximately 25 years ago and acquired by the seller in 2009. It shows 74,458 miles and has sat inside since the seller's acquisition. The car is said to retain its original 4.2-liter inline-six and 4-speed manual gearbox. The engine reportedly turns freely, and current rust issues are detailed below and in the photo gallery. This XKE is now being offered as a non-running project with a clean Colorado title in the seller's name.

The seller states that this XKE was likely painted Opalescent Maroon from the factory, as evidenced by the color present on the frame rails and trunk floor. Missing exterior components are listed as both headlights and their associated chrome bezels, both chrome bonnet beads, the passenger-side headlight scoop, and wood in the boot area. Both slim Series I bumpers are accounted for, as are the taillights and rear badging as detailed in the photo gallery.

Rust is present in the lower doors and rocker panels on both sides, in addition to the wheel wells and various other areas. Both doors show corrosion and will likely need to be re-skinned. The trunk floor is described by the seller as solid.

The seller states that this XKE left the factory with a black top and black leather upholstery. Both seats are present, along with the convertible top's bows and front/rear chrome. The top itself has deteriorated and will need replacement.

The seller claims that the front floors are solid, while the rear passenger floor has rust. All factory instrumentation is present, and the 74,458 miles shown are believed correct, though this cannot be verified with documentation.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is said to turn freely and has been kept in stock specification to the seller's knowledge aside from a relocated fuel pump. The factory air box and associated can are missing.

This Jaguar retains cylinder head #7E7757-9, which corresponds to the factory data plate.

The factory data plate displays the original engine, transmission, body, and chassis numbers.

RM | Sotheby's - MONTEREY 2018

Chassis No. 1E 12474

Exceptional fresh restoration by marque specialists

Original engine block and head, and original gearbox

Beautiful period-correct color scheme

Correct jack, tool kit, owner’s handbook, and convertible top boot cover

Please note that this lot is titled as a 1967.

The E-Type offered here was built on 18 January 1966 and dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York for Thomas J. Watson, believed to have been the scion and chairman of IBM and well-known car enthusiast. It was acquired by its current owner, a well-known marque specialist, several years ago, after which a beautiful restoration was performed. This included rebuilding all major mechanical components, including boring over the engine by 20-thousandths, regrinding the crankshaft to accept new bearings, resizing the connecting rods, and installing new small end bushings, as well as dynamically balancing the rotating assembly to ensure smooth operation. The original cylinder head was rebuilt using new valves, springs, and tappets.

The gearbox was rebuilt with new bearings, synchro rings, layshaft, and seals, and now operates beautifully; further, the differential was rebuilt with new bearings and seals, while changing the gear ratio to 3.07, improving the performance of the car while making each gear feel longer and reducing the engine revs at higher speeds. Keeping the engine cool is a new aluminum radiator and 16-in. electric fan, which works well in modern traffic. The entire braking system is new, from the master cylinder to the rotors, as is the wiring harness, fuel tank and pump, windows, and sundry other items.

The body was refinished from bare metal in Opalescent Silver-Blue, an original E-Type color, and the interior retrimmed using correct British materials. Six-in. wide, 15-in. diameter wheels were installed, one-in. wider than stock, to accept Michelin 205/70/15 tires. Supplied with the car is a correct jack, tool kit, owner’s handbook, and convertible top boot.

One of the nicest and best-presented E-Types on the market, this wonderful roadster is suitable for either concours or a winding country road.
