Q Writes: Seen on ebay UK:
£3101 (reserve not met with 3 days to go, this car is to be broken up if not sold!!

JAGUAR 'E' TYPE XKE 4.2 FHC 1966 Chassis No 1E 21312 built 1966 for full restoration. The car was last on the road in the mid 80s and I have the history and lots of paperwork back to the early 70s.

Originally spec car, including body colour and interior, with matching chassis, body and engine number. Sorry no gearbox but I will assist the buyer source a second hand box at trade price. The engine is dismantled and rough but I can offer the winning bidder another 4.2 engine for £300 if wanted. The car is complete, less the gearbox and the odd small item. The triple carbs and manifold are very good.

The engine frames are all straight and the picture frame (bearing the correct numbers for this car) is present. The bonnet hanging frame requires replacement. The body has all the usual rot associated with E-Types but I have seen much worse. I would advise new sills, floors (albeit they are not holed), door skins, arch repairs and bonnet work. The interior is also origional and the red leather seats have a nice patina and would look good cleaned and re-dyed.

The V5 is in my name and the original chassis plate is still in place. I have a copy of the old style log book and old MOTs.

Owned this car in the 70's, was in poor condition, made and welded in floor panels, inner sill repairs. Big ends went and sold the car to an Army Major when I was working in Germany. Hope PiNKy is getting better! Like to see pictures of restoration, if any

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
