This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I 2+2 that has been in the seller’s family since 1977 and was reportedly driven regularly until 2003. The car is equipped with a non-running 4.2-liter straight-six mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, and the cylinder head was rebuilt approximately 21 years ago. This E-Type project is offered in New York with owner’s booklets, partial service records, magazines and sales documents, a spare set of wire wheels, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.

The body wears cream-colored paint and is fitted with headlight covers, fender-mounted mirrors, and a guard over the radiator opening. Chrome knock-off wire wheels are currently mounted, and a second set is also included in the sale. Dents, scrapes, corrosion, and other blemishes are shown in the gallery below. The seller states that the car was garage-kept for most of the family’s 41-year ownership. The interior features black leather upholstery, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and Smiths gauges including a 5-digit odometer showing approximately 61k miles. A period aftermarket cassette deck and equalizer are mounted in the dash. The seller states that the passenger door only opens from the inside and that the shifter is currently stuck in Park. The 4.2-liter straight-six reportedly has not been turned over since 2003, in part because the ignition system is said to not generate spark despite fitment of a Pertronix setup and replacement coil. The seller notes that the cylinder head was rebuilt in 1997, a spin-on oil filter adapter has been added, a larger radiator and bolt-on fan have been fitted, and the expansion tank has been replaced. The factory radiator is included in the sale.Owner’s booklets, sales documents, service records, Jaguar magazines, and a fact sheet from the seller are included in the sale along with spare parts.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
