I purchased the car out of CA as a one-owner, black-plate driver. The car was purchased new in Long Beach at Jamestown Motors in 1970. Being an inland CA car, there is no rust. It was well cared for needing only a respray to achieve my goal of a mountain sports car experience. I went a little over-board with the refinish project. It was mechanically stripped to bare metal. The only body damage was an egg-sized indentation under the nose of bonnet- typical for the breed. This was ironed out without the need for anything but the bare minimum of filler. The windscreen was removed as was all the trim. 3 coats of DuPont epoxy primer was applied then progressively sanded down to accept 3 coats of DuPont base coat in the original British Racing Green. (is there any other color for a Jaguar?). 4 coats of clear were applied. When cured, the surface was color-sanded and polished to the finish you see here. Full disclosure dictates that I advise there is one blem in the finish on the boot lid, near the edge on the driver's side. It is tiny and has to normally be pointed out but a close exam will reveal it. I can't get it to photograph it is so small. All the trim was either replaced as needed or polished before replacement. The bumpers were "show chromed" and gleam even in the shade. All the seals were replaced as you would expect. The wheels were taken to a wire wheel specialist. The spokes were tightened and the wheel trued. Each wheel was properly balanced, including the spare. The tires are in good shape and appropriate for the application. They are older however. The boot spring is missing. I replaced the carpet with a proper seamed wool replacement kit. The package shelf is carpeted as well. Purists know that this is not correct but I like the look better and functionally it makes the appearance of the interior richer in my opinion. The seats are nice and all the gauges work correctly. The clock runs periodically but doesn't keep time. I installed a new radio with an antenna hidden in the dash. The top was replaced with the earlier fabric cover. This is not correct but is viewed as a common upgrade for the Series 2 cars as its form, function, and appearance is much closer to the expectation of a Jaguar owner. The convertible top bows were stripped, sanded and refinished. The wooden tack blocks are nice and were finished before installing the top. The engine runs well. I spent quite a lot of money at a Jag-specialty shop getting the carbs tuned to our mile-high altitude. I would strongly recommend that you invest in getting the carbs set for your altitude especially if you are near sea level. Compression is consistent across all 6 cylinders. Oil pressure runs 40 psi (measured hot with a mechanic's remote gage). The motor seems to leak just a bit- only on my garage floor but not anywhere else I go with it. I haven't put a lot of miles on the car so I can't comment as to oil consumption. I change the oil each year and it doesn't use any oil between. It doesn't blow smoke when driven. The bonnet opens and closes like new. The shop staff always comment about the fit and finish of the car. Glass is good and the windows roll up and down as you would expect. Experienced Jag operators have commented on how well this one drives. With the hot weather here, I invested in an aluminum radiator conversion, never wanting to tempt fate. The car runs cool at all times. I have the original radiator if you want it. It is heavy and I would have to crate it to ship it to you at your expense. I have an original accessory luggage rack for the boot. I thought I was going to install it but I like the look without it. You can ask about pricing for this and can purchase it separately should you desire. The car does not have air conditioning.

The Jaguar drives really great and is a good investment also.
