This 1970 Jaguar XKE coupe was completed on December 8, 1969, and was subsequently dispatched to a Canadian Jaguar dealer. The car has been in Texas for at least twenty years, and the selling dealer recently acquired it from a Houston area pilot. Power is provided by the original 4.2L inline-six, which sends power rearward via a 4-speed manual transmission. The car has been repainted in the original dark blue and features a light gray leather interior rather than the original pale blue. This XKE is offered by the selling dealer with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Trace Certificate, books on the model, service manuals, a spare air cleaner housing, and a clean Texas title.
The bodywork has been repainted in the original dark blue. The seller notes that the paintwork was done some time ago and shows finish imperfections. Bubbles are noted in the rear sill area, and close-up photos are provided of the trim, finish, and glass.
The wire-spoked wheels are secured with winged center-lock nuts and fitted with Firestone tires. The car retains factory lighting, including sealed beam headlights and enlarged turn signal and brake lights mounted beneath the bumpers.
Originally light blue, the interior has been reupholstered in light gray leather with pale blue carpets. The car is fitted with a burl wood veneer dash fascia, a wooden shift knob, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel with Jaguar center cap. An aftermarket stereo and a pair of aftermarket speakers are installed in the factory location.
The car retains factory rocker switches and instrumentation. 16k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, which is believed by the seller to have rolled over.
The 4.2-liter XK inline-six is equipped with dual Stromberg carburetors and retains factory exhaust manifolds. Factory-rated output was 246 horsepower in US-market specification. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission. The car is fitted with an updated alternator, and a spare air cleaner assembly is included.
The seller reports that the front brake calipers were refurbished about three months ago. Additional photos of the underside are provided and show the floors, exhaust, and more.
A selection of books on the model are included, as are a three-binder set of service manuals and a selection of spare parts.
