Ebay item 4/18/06

Opening bid $10,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
I bought this car in 2001 and had it rebuilt as a daily use vehicle. For five years, I’ve been able to enjoy it in the way it was intended. It’s perfect for running around town. It’s fast, it turns heads and has never let me down.

The rebuild included a new engine, new paint, new interior and new roof. The speedometer / odometer was replaced at the time with new old stock and the car has only done 7044 miles in five years.

The paint is still gleaming, the leather is still 80%, and the carpets have been protected by rubber mats. The roof hasn’t seen much use here in the desert. Chrome is original and bright with the usual pitting etc. for it’s age. The trim around the passenger side headlight was removed for paint but never replaced.

There are always things to do on a car of this age, but most are cosmetic (the headlining has disintegrated in the sun). The drive train seems excellent. The brakes work well although the front disks are a little rusted and pitted. Steering and suspension were dealt with during the rebuild and seem fine.

The tires and wire wheels are in good shape. There is a spare, but it’s worthless. The trunk was refitted and looks good. Body panels seem straight with no signs of rust other than one bubble on the passenger door. Paint is generally wonderful but for a patch on the hood.

The carburetors were replaced but may need rebuilding. They were adjusted for smog, but need the choke out a little now to run nicely. The heating / air fan was missing when I bought the car and never replaced as it does little here. The windshield washer bottle was removed at the time and not replaced as it is never needed.

Subject to smog, this is a car you jump in and enjoy for months without work.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
