This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II Roadster that was acquired in October 2006 by the seller and was subsequently refurbished. Work included reupholstering the interior in Biscuit leather, refinishing the car in British Racing Green, installing Dayton chrome knock-off wire wheels and an electronic ignition, performing repairs on the electrical system, and replacing the soft top, clutch hydraulic cylinders, and exhaust system. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a black Bartlett soft top, dual cooling fans, and a cassette radio with an auxiliary input. This XKE roadster is now offered with a Jaguar-branded sweater and hat, spare parts, a replacement data plate, refurbishment records, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The exterior was refinished in its current shade of British Racing Green and a replacement black Bartlett soft top was installed around 2007. The bumper overriders and exterior light assembly gaskets were replaced at that time. Equipment includes taillights located below the rear bumper, a driver-side mirror, and uncovered headlight buckets.
Chrome-finished 15″ Dayton knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in 205/70 Michelin Harmony tires. Work performed by Automotive Metal Performance of Williamsport, Maryland included overhauling the rear brakes along with replacement of the right rear wheel bearing, tie rod ends, ball joints, and coil springs.
The seats were reupholstered in Biscuit leather sourced from Original Specification Jaguar Interiors and the foam seat pads, carpets, dashboard pad, and weather seals were also replaced. Amenities include a Dual cassette stereo with an auxiliary input, a center console armrest, and factory three-point seat belts.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer indicates 81k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller over the last 15 years. True mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and cooling fans along with an electronic ignition system. During the refurbishment, repairs were performed on the electrical system, the radiator was cleaned, an Ames stainless steel exhaust system was installed, and the alternator, water pump, oil pressure sending unit, and cooling hoses were replaced.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The rear end was overhauled in 2006 and the clutch hydraulic cylinders were replaced in 2007.
