Lot 183 at Anglia Car Auctions of Kings Lynn sale of Classic Cars on 26th January 2019. Sold for £36,040 including premium. Catalogue description below.

Purchased by the Danish vendor during the late 1980's. Appears very solid and is a good basis for restoration. The paintwork is flat and the interior in poor condition. Engine turns, but no attempt has been made to start. The Heritage Certificate confirms that this car was produced for the North American market and dispatched to British Leyland New York in March 1973. It comes with copy Californian title deed and import documentation dated 1987.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
