    Ebay item 6/20/13
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Jaguar-XKE-5-3L-V12-2-2-Restored-Low-Reserve-/22124 ...
Current bid $10,099 reserve not met, 14 bids 6 days left in auction. Note, seller provided VIN is15704841300, not a Jaguar VIN. VIN used is correct for this model and is assumed, corrections solicited.

    Sellers description:
1971 Jaguar XKE Series III V-12 2+2. Car has been in same family since 1983 and the owner was a avid collector of English cars including Rolls Royce, Bentley, and Jaguar. Various service records for restoration work on car. Top end of engine was rebuilt in 2002. Car was stripped to bare metal and repainted to the original factory Robbins Egg Blue color in 2003. The entire interior was completely redone (Carpets, Seats, Headliner, all trim) during that same time period. The car has 92,000 original miles and has always been stored inside. Over the last 10 years it was driven approximately 700-1,000 miles per year.

This car was recently serviced by a British car specialist mechanic in Chicago and is in top running condition. $1,200.00 was spent on a tune up, the exhaust system, fluids, and other small odds and ends to get it in top running condition.

Overall this is very driveable E-Type 2+2 that is in great condition. It is not a concourse car, but is a really top end driver car. In addition to the above mentioned work, the car has various desirable updates and options including original Jaguar wire wheels, European front bumpers (a ton better than the U.S. spec at the time) and hood, quad exhaust, and a tastefully done modern stereo that does not detract from the very original appearing interior.

This is a great driving car that has been restored to appear as original as possible with the factory options and appearance remaining intact. It gets looks and stares on the road and is a hit at local cruise nights and classic car shows, where it has one various awards. This is the car that is rated by many as the most beautiful car ever made. It has the timeless classic style of that British motor cars had in the 60's.

Overall I'd rate this car a 9/10 on the exterior (Paint and chrome in very good shape), 9/10 on the interior, and 8.5/10 mechanically. It has a clear IL title that is ready to be signed over. The auction has an extremely low reserve since it needs to be sold. So place a bid if you are serious about owning a classic Jaguar that needs nothing and will only increase in value.

    Current bid $1,000.00
Reserve not met 1 bid 6 days left in auction, buy it now price $55,000. Car now said to be in San Jose, California. 92k miles.

    Sellers description:
Light Blue on Blue 71' Jaguar xKe 2+2, with a great running V12 engine.

The body was fully restored several years ago to its original color. I have pictures of the restoration. The interior was also restored at the same time. An aftermarket stereo was added with speaker boxes in the rear. If I were to keep the car, I would replace the stereo and install speakers in the radio surround.

In January this year, I had all new full floors installed by Images Body Shop (Jag Resto Specialist), along with a few other minor fixes. Now this xKe is ready to roll.

The engine, AC, and drive train was completely gone through by Delongs Automotive (Also a Jag Specialist). Carbs were rebuilt, and the engine has been tuned. It runs great... zios down the highway at 75 mph with no issues! This is a beautiful car.

Car has a buy it now price of $37,500 for 9 days, seller carsrobbie2005, car now said to be in Santa Clara, California, 75k miles.

    Sellers descirption:
Body paint and interior restored to factory colors, Light Blue with Dark Blue interior.
I have all the documentation of the restoration in a photo album, along with a bunch of receipts.
The engine was rebuilt at the time of restoration and has since had the carbs rebuilt, AC hoses replaced, and all wiring gone through by Delong's Jaguar Repair in San Jose. Upgraded lucas electronic ignition system..looks stock but has three times the spark power!!
The complete floors (front to back) were replaced last year by Auto Body, specializing in XKe's. There was a few rust areas but, decided it was best to replace it all and know it is solid.
The front suspension has been completely updated with new bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends.
The radio has been upgraded to a Custom Auto sound period looking system with blue tooth for hands free phone.
All gauges work and all electrical is in working order.
This car runs and drives great! The owner has driven it weekly with no issues. It will run 90 mph down the highway, straight as an arrow with plenty power more to go!
With a little more attention, this car could be a show winner at the best car shows. The current owner simply wanted it as a very nice driver. Clean california title.

I bought this beauty in November 2016 for $33,500 from the owner in San Jose CA. The body and interior are in terrific condition. The VIN, I discovered when registering the car in NC was not "157048413W" but "17S0484BW." Interesting typos, huh? Anyway, I've done the (expensive) following things:

    1. Complete engine tune-up and carb adjustments - was running really rich
    2. Replaced automatic transmission with authentic Jaguar 4-speed manual - so nice do drive now!
    3. Fixed clock, temp, fuel gauges along with instrument voltage regulator
    4. Completely restored engine bay to "new" condition
    5. Added new AC compressor and evaporator, but still have leak
    6. Restored spare tire well to "new" condition
    7. Had wire wheels adjusted and cleaned - put on new Michelin Defender correct size radials with proper whitewalls
    8. And many more minor improvements

Scored a 98.72 out-of-100 points in a June 2017 official Jaguar-sanctioned concours judged event - first in class!

Need to replace windshield due to wiper scratches and leaks around rubber gasketing. That should be last major fix - ha!

This baby looks and runs soooo well! Ran really smooth and quiet at 110 mph (briefly) on interstate!

This 1971 Jaguar XKE 2+2 is a Series III example finished in light blue over dark blue that was bought new in Chicago, Illinois and remained with its original owner for 42 years. After a restoration was carried out between 2001 and 2003, the car moved to San Diego after being sold to its second owner in 2013 before it was purchased by the seller two years ago. Power is from the original 5.3-liter V12 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission which was installed by the seller in 2017 in place of the original automatic. Work in the last two years has included rebuilding the carburetors and installing a new differential, alternator, water pump, and more. Showing approximately 98k miles, this left-hand drive E-Type scored a 99.25/100 at a Jaguar Club of North America concours event this year and is now offered with records dating to 2002, several repair manuals, three sets of keys, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

A full repaint was carried out in the original light blue in 2003, with rust and other sheet metal blemishes corrected before the refinishing. Images from the process can be seen in the photo gallery below. The seller had the top and underside of the bonnet painted in 2017, with the valence area replaced. An area of touch-up is noted under the driver’s door, and according to the seller on close inspection pitting is detectable on the chrome bumpers.

The 15” chrome wire wheels with knock-off hubs were professionally trued, cleaned, and balanced in 2017 along with the matching spare, and Michelin Defender 205/70 whitewall tires were mounted at that time. The spare tire well was also refinished. The seller has had the wheel bearings repacked and adjusted, and had the ball joints replaced. A new windshield was installed in 2018, along with a new seal.

The interior was restored in 2001 with correct dark blue leather upholstery as listed on the Heritage Certificate, and additional photos showing the condition of the cabin trim can be seen in the gallery below. A period-correct British Leyland AM/FM stereo is fitted in the black dash and is said to function, and the air conditioning is said to blow cold after a rebuild of the compressor within the last two years. Blue and black Coco mats protect the blue carpets.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 160 mph speedometer and the odometer shows approximately 98k miles, around 1,200 of which have been added by the seller who says the car is driven several times a week and garage-stored. All gauges reportedly function and the clock is said to keep accurate time.

The 5.3-liter V12 breathes through four Zenith Stromberg carburetors which have been rebuilt during the seller’s ownership. The distributor, amplifier, and ballast resistor were replaced with updated SNG Barratt OPUS units in 2018. The most recent service included new spark plugs, an oil change, and transmission fluid change in Spring 2018. Other work addressed by the seller included a new alternator, water pump, belts, and coolant header tank. The seller notes he has not observed substantial oil or coolant usage.

Block stamping #7S-1640-SA matches the number on the Heritage Certificate, which can be seen in the photo gallery below. Shifting is through a Jaguar 4-speed manual transmission which replaced the factory automatic unit in 2017 along with a new clutch, flywheel, and pedal box. The engine bay was refinished while the engine was removed for the transmission replacement. A new differential has also been installed by the seller.

The floor pans were replaced in 2012 and covered on top with Dynamat sound deadener, and a new exhaust system was fitted in 2014. New brake calipers, rotors, and pads have been installed by the seller.

Photos from the restoration in 2003 also included with the sale are three sets of keys, a tool kit, a knock-off tool, a lead and wood knock-off hammer, a Metallifacture jack, several repair and parts manuals, a car cover, and miscellaneous spare parts.
