Isnt this the Jag driven by Sean Connery in Woman of Straw. Definitely same colour and reg. what a gorgeous car. Is it for sale! Especially with the Connery pedigree should be worth a fortune!

Yes, 814 ELB was driven by Sean Connery in the 1964 film 'Woman of Straw'. He made it just before starting work on Goldfinger. You can find screen captures here: www.imcdb.org/movie.php

I don't think the film has been released on DVD in the UK and US copies sell for about $99 because of its rarity. A very good film by the way.

According to the heritage records this number plate was assigned to #860491. Typo by someone, so which is correct?

A short note from the current owner of 860419 today 11/2/20 confirms 860491 is likely the original Connery car, as 860419 is and was 577 HFU. Interestingly the JDC register lists 814 ELB to both 860491 and 860419 both listed as red. Please visit car 860491 for what we know about it.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
