Auction description:
Lot - 1964 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 litre Fixedhead Coupé
* Registration: EBY 185B
* Chassis Number: 890290
* Engine Number: RA6087
* Odometer reading: 18,186
* Estimate: £24,000-£28,000
Considered by many to be the purest E-Type form, 890290 is an early much sought after fixedhead Coupé and has had just three owners from new, the last in 1981. Working in St Johns, Newfoundland as a Jaguar technician, its English owner bought 890290 from its then second owner in 1981 and commenced a full ground-up restoration in the mid 1980's retaining it's correct numbered engine, gearbox, chassis and original colour scheme. When he returned to the UK in 1988, not surprisingly, the car came back with him. In dry storage since 1993, it has been recently re-commissioned and now the recipient of an MoT test certificate by Sherwood Restorations to prepare it ready for sale. Reportedly running and driving very well, it is a testament to it's original restoration. A sound running and reliable car, albeit with light microblistering, EBY 185B comes with an extensive history file to include restoration invoices, Heritage Certificate and original service booklet and associated handbooks.

Car now offered at:
www.e-typecenter.com/en/cars/1964-jaguar-e-type-3-8-fhc_5.html

Sellers description:
Original Opalescent Gunmetal Grey with Red interior trim delivered car. First series 3.8 Jaguar E-type FHC with aluminium dashboard.

This series 1 FHC was built on the 12th of March 1964 and delivered through the distributor M.J. Duff, St John's, Newfoundland, to its first owner Gerald F Hayward, St John's, Newfoundland. The original colour combination was Opalescent Gunmetal with Red interior trim.

In 1988 the car was imported from Canada into the UK. A couple of years ago the car came to the Netherlands where it stayed in a collection of classic cars.

There is a large history file with invoices, MOT test certificates, insurance documents etc from 1983 until present date.

The car shows an older restoration, the paint is in a bad condition and should be redone to make it better. Now running again after recommissioning but could do with some more attention.

Currently a Dutch EU registration is being applied for and the car comes with a Heritage Certificate and a large history and service file.

Please contact us to make an appointment to view this E-type in our showroom in Bilthoven, The Netherlands.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
