This 1973 Jaguar XKE is a US-market Series III roadster that shows just under 34k miles and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. The reported second owner purchased the car in 1976 at Continental Cars Inc. in Saint Louis, Missouri and died in the 1990s. The second owner’s niece is said to have extracted the car from long-term storage in 2016 and commissioned a mechanical and cosmetic servicing that was completed in 2018 that totaled over $40k. Finished in British Racing Green, this Jaguar received a new tan soft top and new leather interior as part of the recent refurbishment. Equipment includes quad SU carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, stainless-steel exhaust, and a luggage rack. The selling dealer acquired the car about six months ago, and maintenance performed since then included a new heater core, fuel pump, and tires. This XKE roadster is now offered with factory books and manuals, removed parts, service records, and a clean Missouri title.

The body is finished in factory British Racing Green (8461) and features chrome bumpers with rubber bumperettes front and rear as well as a trunk-mounted luggage rack. A replacement tan soft top was fitted in March 2018, and the seller notes that the original paint shows wear, chips, and scratches.

In March 2018, the interior was refurbished with new foam and leather covers for the seats and center console as well as new carpeting, door and kick panels, seal plates, and more as detailed on invoices presented in the gallery below. The seller notes the radio and clock are inoperable, and the air-conditioning system was removed.

The 5.3L V12 is fitted with quad SU carburetors and is paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was reportedly in storage for approximately 25 years until undergoing a mechanical refurbishment beginning in 2016 that is detailed on the invoices viewable in the gallery. Maintenance in March 2019 is said to have included a new heater core and a fuel pump. The seller notes the smog equipment has been removed and is included in the sale, along with the removed factory Stromberg carburetors.

Invoices detailing the 2016 to 2018 refurbishment totaling over $40,000 are included, along with factory books and manuals, purchase agreements, and more.

This 1973 Jaguar XKE roadster is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 equipped with quad SU carburetors and backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Its reported second owner purchased the car in 1976 at Continental Cars Inc. of Saint Louis, Missouri and died in the 1990s. The second owner’s niece is said to have extracted the car from long-term storage in 2016 and commissioned a refurbishment by Garcia’s Classic Car Restoration of Sauget, Illinois that was completed in 2018. Work focused on the interior, suspension, brakes, fuel system, and cooling system and totaled over $40k. The seller acquired the car on BaT in July 2019. It is finished in British Racing Green with a tan soft top over a reupholstered tan leather interior, and additional features include a Nardi steering wheel, a trunk-mounted luggage rack, a stainless-steel exhaust, and 15″ wire wheels. Now showing 34k miles, this Series III E-Type is offered with factory literature, service records dating back to 1973, a pair of Stromberg carburetors, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in British Racing Green (8641), and exterior features include a chrome trunk-mounted luggage rack, a quad-tipped center-exit exhaust, and a replacement tan soft top that was installed in March 2018. The finish exhibits spider cracking, chips, and dings in various locations.

Chrome-finished replacement 15″ wire wheels with two-eared Jaguar knockoffs are wrapped in 205/70 Goodyear Assurance tires manufactured in 2017. The suspension and the brakes were overhauled during the 2016–2018 refurbishment.

The seats were reupholstered in tan leather with new foam in 2018, at which time the carpeting, door and kick panels, and sill plates also were replaced. The seller reports that the air-conditioning system was removed during prior ownership, and the factory radio and clock are both inoperable.

The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer displaying just over 34k miles, less than 250 of which were added by the seller.

The 5.3L V12 is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. The quad SU carburetor setup was purchased in 2017, and the removed factory Stromberg carburetors are included in the sale. The radiator, heater core, fuel tank, fuel pump, and other components also were replaced during the refurbishment.

Service records from 1973 to 2018 are included in the sale along with factory literature. Individual records from the 2016–2018 refurbishment at Garcia’s Classic Car Restoration can be viewed in the previous listing.

I acquired this car from SportsCarCompany in La Jolla CA in November 2020. A reputable seller and good transaction.

Purpose is to have a driver. Want it to be aesthetically pleasing, reliable and fun, but not a restoration.

As previously noted, a full re-paint was required.

To that end, I commissioned GA Coachworks in San Diego to take the exterior down to bare metal and re-paint in the original British Racing Green.

The work took 5 months. Much bondo was removed and metalwork done to restore the exterior to smooth and ready-to-paint condition. But we were fortunate that there was only one small (5"x5") area of rust below and in front of the passenger door that required cutting and replacing. George and his team at GA Coachworks did great work, and the car looks beautiful the day it's delivered to Los Gatos CA - June 10, 2021 with 34,309 miles on the odometer.
