This 1974 Jaguar E-Type is a Series III roadster that is finished in maroon over a tan interior and powered by a 5.3-liter V12 backed by a four-speed manual gearbox. The car was purchased by its current owner out of Texas in 1991 and subsequently moved to Utah, where a refurbishment is said to have been performed less than 2k miles ago. Fuel and coolant flushes were carried out in 2018. This E-Type is offered on behalf of its current owner with a spare wheel, pre-refurbishment photos, and a clean Utah title in the owner’s name.
The body wears an older repaint, and blemishes are visible on several panel edges along with a separating piece of chrome fender beading. Backdated chrome overriders have been fitted to the bumpers. The tan soft top is pictured both raised and lowered but has a broken center latch.
Chrome wire wheels are fixed with short-eared “federal” spinner nuts and wear Pirelli P4000 tires. A full-size spare wheel and tools are housed in the trunk. A tan boot for the top is said to be included in the sale.
High-backed bucket seats are trimmed in tan leather and equipped with shoulder belts, while the floor is lined with matching carpets and mats. The Series III roadster was configured as a two-seater with an enclosed storage box beneath the rear parcel shelf.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a Smiths tachometer and a 160-mph speedometer that is said to have been changed in 1980 at 34k miles. The replacement five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, with actual mileage unknown. The black padded dash houses late-model rocker switches and five auxiliary gauges, while an air conditioner and period push-button AM/FM radio are mounted beneath.
The 5.3-liter V12 features single overhead camshafts for each cylinder bank, four SU carburetors, a Mallory electronic ignition module, and an electric cooling fan. The fuel and cooling systems were flushed in 2018. The seller notes a leaking fuel line union between the two left carburetors. Service records in the gallery cover from 2011 onward.
A four-speed manual transmission routes power to the rear wheels.
