Being only the fifty-ninth example built and originally supplied by Hoffman in New York outfit in Carmen red with red interior, this car retains a few interesting features (like so many other very early 4.2's) which were carried over from the previous 3.8 model, such as the 3.8 bulkhead and 3.8 aluminum shift console (albeit trimmed in leather.) In 2002 the current owner purchased the car in non-running, poor condition and in dire need of restoration. Thus, he entrusted the job to the respected and multi-JCNA (Jaguar Club of North America) winning restoration shop, Jeff's Resurrections in Taylor, Texas. Fortunately the majority of the car was original, with the only significant component not to have survived being the original cylinder head. Over the next three years a painstaking nut and bolt restoration was undertaken and nothing less than a show winning result would suffice. Every single component was rebuilt, replaced or restored, and attention to detail was as demanding visually as it was mechanically to ensure that the driving experience was also akin to that of a brand new car. The owner decided that the original interior trim was too overwhelming thus the decision was made to retrim the interior in the well-suited choice of tan leather.
As one would expect, no stone was left unturned and by the time the car was completed (just last year) it immediately hit the grueling JCNA show circuit, and instantly garnered critical acclaim which in turn granted eligibility for National honors. Entered in the highly competitive C-5 class (Series I E-Types) it duly came out on top and took first place with a flawless 100 point score. Describing the condition in general is a fickle exercise given the accolade it currently holds, thus we proudly compare this E-Type as being able to offer exactly the same experience as the original owner had when the car was supplied new. There can be no better example of this iconic and highly usable British sports car and viewing is highly recommended indeed.

As indicated by its chassis number, this lovely E-Type roadster is the 59th example of the Series 1 cars that appeared in late 1964 with a more powerful 4.2-litre engine. Finished in Carmen Red paint with a red interior, this beautiful Jaguar was originally distributed to Hoffman Cars in New York. Though little is known of the early history of this roadster, a comprehensive rotisserie restoration conducted by marque expert Jeff Snyder assures a strong degree of authenticity. Mr. Snyder’s Texas-based restoration house, Jeff’s Resurrections, has been credited with the restoration of 20 Jaguars that earned national champion awards from the Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA).
After acquiring this car in 2002, its previous owner quickly retained Jeff’s Resurrections to address all mechanical and cosmetic needs. Taking about three years to complete, this comprehensive restoration entailed a rebuild of the engine, carburetors, driveline, brakes, differential, gearbox and wiring harness. All soft parts, such as gaskets, seals, hoses, and belts, were replaced with new ones. The interior was completely restored with all-new leather, this time in the color tan. All aspects of the car were evaluated and addressed with a maximum concern for authenticity, down to the preservation of the original factory inspection marks that lie on the underside of various panels. The owner spared no expense in the consideration of this work.
The strength of Mr. Snyder’s work was immediately evident as this wonderful roadster went on to overwhelming acclaim at the regional events of the JCNA. Scoring 100 points at least three times during the 2005 show season, this wonderful E-Type roadster went on to a perfect record and was eventually crowned the National Class Champion for the 2005 season. Over the last three months, this car has been mechanically evaluated and serviced as needed, ensuring that its state of tune and overall operating condition are optimally prepared for its next owner. In addition to its fine restoration, this early 4.2-litre E-Type is accompanied by certification from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust that attest that the engine block is a matching-numbers unit. In terms of authenticity, presentation, and competition, this outstanding Jaguar is clearly an unparalleled example of the world’s most famous sports car.
