Sellers comment:
A matching numbers series 1 4.2 1966 XKE Roadster. This car is simply gorgeous and rare too with both hard and soft tops. This car has had a substantial restoration over the last ten years and really is a sight for sore eyes. Take a look at the pictures of the underneath, you could eat your dinner off of it. And if that is not good enough for you take a peek at that Italian leather interior, no cracks, no wear, no tears, just stunning. And on top of all that there are new chrome bumpers, a new engine rebuild, a new transmission rebuild, new radiator, new floors, new gas tank, new weather stripping, new trunk mat, new dash, new carpet, new door panels, new clutch cylinder, new brake master, new hoses, new pipes, new exhaust, new red line tires, new ball joints, complete new brake system and a superb repaint (sorry about the glare in the pictures, it was a really sunny day and the paint really is superb). And just about everything else in between the new parts list reads like a Jaguar catalog. The car was finished four years ago and has done approximately fifteen hundred miles since being finished. And obviously this car has absolutely NO RUST!! This is the car for the man or woman who has everything. If this car was for sale at Barrett Jackson it would probably make $40,000+ I have set the reserve in the high 20's so you can bid with confidence this is not like some of the other XKE's on Ebay that are overpriced and have no chance of getting a new owner. Why pay $20,000 for one needing restoration and then spend another $25,000 when you can have a chance at owning this stunning car at a fraction of the above. You won't be disappointed, the pictures really don't do it justice (if you need some different pics just ask, it would be my pleasure to email them to you). The XKE also comes with a super soft indoor car cover and the original handbook, lubrication chart and a trunk load of various other parts. I have kept this a private auction so you can bid with freedom and will not be bothered by spaming. Best of luck...
Vehicle Condition
This is a stunning car that drives as good as it looks. There is a brand new soft top still in the box in the trunk and also a brand new convertible boot. There is also a good soft top on the original frame thats ready to be put back on the car with four bolts and about fifteen screws (hey this is Florida, we don't need tops here!) The hard top needs the perspex rear window put back in and weather stripping put on it. The only other small job to do is the blower motor box, it was lost during restoration, however I do have the blower motor.

Car was offered not sold at auction again in '04
Gooding & Company, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance,
Pebble Beach, California, August 15, 2004
Auction description/results:
Lot # 40 1966 Jaguar XKE SI 4.2
Roadster; S/N 1E11733; Engine #
7E1642-9; Opalescent Blue/Black
leather, Black top; Estimate $85,000 -
$105,000; Cosmetic restoration, 2- condition;
Not sold at Hammer bid of
$76,000 -- Pioneer stereo, chrome wire
wheels. Restored some time ago by
Classic Showcase in good, but not
showroom, condition. Good repaint,
interior and chrome. Underhood shows
some age. Flat panels and excellent fits.
The owner apparently thinks more
highly of this car than the rest of the
world does. It was a no-sale at McCormick's
Palm Springs auction in November
2003 at $55K and at B-J's WPB sale
in March 2004 at $61K. It's steadily
working its way up the ladder but isn't
likely to get a better shot than it did
here.

RM Auction, Phoenix, 1/28/05. Sold for $70,400. SCM assessment: Quick-and-dirty restoration to marginal standards. Bondo in nose. Poor panel fit with little attention to detail. Interior worn. AM/FM radio. Chrome decent. Engine compartment highly detailed. Lots to sort out.
