Car was at auction 10/15

Auction description:
1965 Jaguar E-Type S1 4.2 DHC
Lot 137
First Registered: 1965 Registration No: GVU 494D
Mileage:
Chassis No: 1E 12034
MOT: July 2016
Colour: Carmen Red

The vendor states that this car was manufactured in November 1965 and exported to New York where it was first registered to a Theresa Fisher.
A Mr Jones purchased the car in 1988 from his friend who had blown up the engine. Mr Jones collected American cars but decided this looked so nice he would rebuild it to its original condition. He completed this in 1989 after sourcing another E-type engine from a 1965 car along with a completely new interior purchased from Jaguar Cars of New York. This retains the original 'leather smell'
Mr Jones completed around 6000 miles in the next 24 years. The vendor purchased the car and imported it in June of last year. It immediately had all the engine hoses changed, completed a Full Service and had the Independent Rear Suspension removed due to the discovery of a small weeping leak from a drive shaft seal the unit was rebuilt using new rubbers, and the brake pipe bleed valves were re-positioned for ease of operation. New radius arm bushes were also inserted.
The car was taken to CMC who carried out a full under seal and cavity seal programme.
The wheels have been replaced with new MWS 15"X 6" Competition Pattern Chrome rims with Stainless Steel Spokes
The car recently won the Concours event in a local Classic Car event, and was voted 'Car of the Show'

All panels on the car fit exceptionally well, the engine has 60psi oil pressure at start up to 40psi at tick over when warm. There is no noise from the engine or gearbox.
Overall this is a first class example of a rare series 1 4.2 roadster often viewed as the better investment car than the 3.8.
Sold For:£82,500.00

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
