Car was stored for 28 years in a clean, dry garage in northern California. Very, very original, rust free car. No issues at all with the engine and transmission after sitting for 28 years: no smoke, very good compression and smooth shifting transmission. 1966 Jaguar E Type Series 1 Open Two Seater, a 3 owner California car from new, sold new at Oxford Motors in Sacramento. Zero rust in this car, current owner acquired car in 2014 after car had been in storage for 28 years. Evidently one of the previous owners replaced head tyring to improve the passing of Smog requirements, otherwise an all matching numbers car. Engine, trans have never been out of the car, rearend was resealed, and updated adjustable torshion set was installed along with updated Wilwood calipers, new master cylinder. In 2017 the current owner undertook a painstaking cosmetic restoration, stripped to metal and refinished back to the original Carmine Red. A new interior, carpet, top, tonneau were installed as well as new chrome and seals through out. The car has just had a service from local E Type expert Dan Kelly. New tires and stainless steel exhaust system and with undercarriage detailed the car looks awesome but it is not a ground up restoration, but a very very clean driver. Retains its original Blaupaunkt radio, owners manual, warranty card, and parts replaced are availale as well. Wheels are original very clean, have been tuned and show very well. This E Type needs nothing to be enjoyed, shown or driven.

This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster finished in Carmen Red with a black convertible top over a black leather interior and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car was sold new from Oxford Motors of Sacramento, California, in May 1966, and according to the seller, it was stored for nearly 30 years before the current owner purchased it in 2014 and recommissioned it for road use. Refurbishment work since 2014 has included an interior refresh by Award Interiors of Sacramento, California, a repaint, a replacement black convertible top, brake and suspension reconditioning, and engine and carburetor tuning. Equipment includes Wilwood brake calipers with cross-drilled rotors, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a stainless exhaust system, triple SU carburetors, and adjustable front torsion bars. This Series I XKE roadster is now offered on behalf of the owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, its Manufacturer’s Warranty certificate, service records from current ownership, its removed factory steering wheel, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The body was refinished in Carmen Red during a cosmetic refurbishment completed in 2018. The seller notes that the antenna was removed and its mounting hole filled before painting, the windshield was replaced after the repaint, and the black convertible soft top was replaced by Award Interiors. Features include split front and rear bumpers, glass headlight covers, and chrome windshield and door top moldings.

15″ knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Wilwood brake calipers were fitted during current ownership along with cross-drilled rotors and a replacement master cylinder. Adjustable torsion bars are installed on the front suspension.

The interior was refurbished in 2018 by Award Interiors and features black leather upholstery with matching carpets and door panels, a black dashboard, and black lap belts. A Blaupunkt AM radio remains installed but is not connected.

A smaller-diameter 15″ steering wheel is fitted in place of the factory steering wheel and fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with a non-working inset clock. Ancillary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 54k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the current owner since 2014.

The 4.2L twin-cam inline-six is equipped with triple SU side-draft carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. According to the seller, the cylinder head was replaced during previous ownership, and reported service in July 2020 included a tune-up and carburetor adjustments.

The engine identification stamp reads 7E7458-9 and matches the engine number listed on the underhood identification plate, as well as the engine number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that a stainless exhaust system was fitted during current ownership.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers and shows a manufacture date of December 30, 1965.

Chassis number 1E12335 is shown on the factory data plate, and a secondary tag reading “J/66” is located above it.
