Ebay item 3/1/23
www.ebay.com/itm/125795806345
Car has a buy it now price of $295,000 for 6 days, seller blackhorsemotors.

Seller's description:
Originally discovered in a garage in Southern California, this matching numbers 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster had been sitting idle since 1974 in unrestored condition. This XKE is an original California car with only 2 owners from new, with documentation & still retains its original CA Black plate, with 1974 registration tags. Upon acquiring the vehicle, it was transported to Los Angeles where the car was evaluated and impressively, the engine, upon connecting to a new battery fired right up, consistent with the original 11,062 miles noted on the odometer. Shortly after the car was evaluated for restoration, the Jaguar was commissioned for use as a picture car for the remake of the movie "Less Than Zero" - The vehicle was "wrapped" for use in the movie and then returned to the shop to continue the evaluation for its restoration. This Jaguar retains all of its original sheet-metal & original body.

Beginning in 2018 through Mid 2019 the Jaguar was stripped down to bare metal, all parts were disassembled and a complete inventory was performed where it began its 4 year concourse restoration. With the exception of bushings, bearings etc, all original parts were restored. It should be noted the engine block was rebored to accommodate bigger size pistons. New engine rod and crank bearing were also installed, along with a new clutch/plate. We chose an exterior color of Grigio Silverstone which nicely compliments the Bordeaux interior for a stunning combination to satisfy the collector who wants a true show car.

This car was featured in Petrolicious in 2018 when it was discovered with several other cars

Recently, the roadster was professionally evaluated for appraisal and a number of $390,754 was attached to the car.

Equipment listing for vehicle; Performance built 4.2L I-6 Engine, Triple SU Carbs, 4-Speed manual transaxle, Becker Europa AM/FM Radio, leather bucket seats, red lap belts, red folding soft-top, black cloth tonneau cover, covered headlamps, dual Talbot exterior mirrors, polished intake manifold, polished cam covers, front/rear disc brake, polished stainless steel exhaust system, Koni shocks, 15” wire wheels w/ knock-off spindles It was viewed to be in very good condition. It is noted that the vehicle started up quickly, on cold start, with no hesitation or smoke.

This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on February 25, 1966, partially disassembled in the 1970s, and placed in storage, where it remained until its acquisition by the current owner around six years ago. A subsequent refurbishment was carried out by Blackhorse Motor Sports of Los Angeles, California, with work that included a rebuild and overbore of the 4.2-liter inline-six, along with rebuilding the four-speed manual transmission, overhauling the suspension and brakes, reupholstering the interior in burgundy leather, and performing a repaint in Grigio Silverstone. Equipment includes a burgundy soft top, a black boot cover, a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, triple SU carburetors, a stainless-steel exhaust system, four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rears, and chrome knock-off wire wheels. This XKE is being offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with photos and receipts from the refurbishment, a Production Record Trace certificate, and a clean California title.

Finished from the factory in Opalescent Light Maroon, the car was stripped to bare metal and repainted its current shade of Grigio Silverstone during the refurbishment, and the brightwork was also re-chromed at that time. Exterior details include a burgundy soft top, a black boot cover, a louvered hood, glass headlight covers, and Talbot bullet-style side mirrors. A fray on the soft top is noted by the seller.

Chrome 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with 205/65 Delinte DH2 tires. A matching spare is found in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears, and the car rides on Koni shocks. Work during the refurbishment included rebuilding and re-plating the brake calipers and suspension components, as well as replacing the brake lines, suspension bushings, and suspension seals.

The cabin houses bucket seats that were trimmed in black from the factory but have since been reupholstered in burgundy leather that also extends to the door panels and center console. Darker red carpets line the floors, and appointments consist of a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, red lap belts, and toggle switches for vehicle functions. The pedal box and heater box were rebuilt during the refurbishment.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a suite of auxiliary displays in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 11k miles, around 100 of which have been added during current ownership, though total mileage is unknown. LED bulbs have been installed in the gauge cluster. Wear is noted on the steering wheel.

The 4.2L inline-six was overbored, rebuilt, and fitted with upgraded pistons and replacement valves and guides during the refurbishment. The engine features triple SU carburetors, along with ceramic-coated headers and a stainless-steel exhaust system.

The cylinder head stamping and engine block stampings the Production Record Trace certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt and fitted with replacement synchros, bearings, and seals. Additional work included rebuilding the differential and installing replacement bearings and seals.

Photos of the car wearing a blue vinyl wrap that was applied for its use in a pilot episode of a TV series are included.

Chassis number 1E12694 is prepended with “J66.” The car is registered as Planned Non-Operation in the state of California.

The Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers, along with a completion date of February 25, 1966.
