Auction description:
Historics at Brooklands
Lot 299 - 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (4.2 litre)
Registration LKE 244E
Chassis Number 1E 13510
Engine Number 7E 10230-9
Odometer reading 48,132 miles
Estimate £130,000 - £160,000
We are delighted to offer this matching numbers Series I Jaguar E-Type that is presented in outstanding condition. Manufactured on 14th September 1966, LKE 244E was dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on 3rd October 1966 where it was sold and registered to its first keeper, Barbara Devonne, on 1st January 1967. From then, relatively little is known about the car until it was repatriated into the UK in 2012. LKE 244E has undergone a conversion to righthand drive and a ground up restoration to the highest level by the most well respected specialists within the trade. The coachwork and paint was taken care of by 355 Automobile Restorations International who undertake the repair and restoration of some of the world's finest and most valuable motor cars. The standard of this work is evident on inspection of the coachwork, which displays excellent panel gaps and finish, another sign of the quality of the workmanship. Graham Williams overhauled the engine. Graham, an engineer who was a Lotus test driver alongside Dan Gurney and Jim Clark today races a Hesketh Formula One car and operates a company rebuilding engines, especially Jaguar, and runs master classes teaching how to build the Jaguar XK power unit. Andrew Harding overhauled the rear axle whilst Anthony Wainwright undertook the rest of the mechanical work. The trim was taken care of by 'E-Type UK's' trim specialist and the chrome work by SilvaBronz. The completed finish of this fine E-Type Jaguar is outstanding in all respects and the significant investment in the restoration is reflected in the quality.
LKE 244E is presented with UK registration, a Jaguar Heritage Production Trace Certificate and will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate. Presented in its original colours of Pale Primrose with contrasting black hide interior and black mohair hood, this exceptional example of a Series I E-Type must be one of the best available today.

For sale on :
www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/jaguar/e-type/jaguar-e-type-series-1-4 ...
For £170,000
Seller's description :
The 4.2 litre Jaguar E-type was the natural evolution of the 3.8 Series 1 Jaguar E-type, with a larger engine and more luxurious interior, the 4.2 litre E-type was regarded at its time as the more refined model. Bringing with it the all new synchromesh 4-speed gearbox, a gearbox which today is still regarded by many to be the gearbox of choice for the ultimate E-type driving experience.
This 1966 matching numbers Jaguar E-type is presented beautifully in its original Heritage certificate colours of Pale Primrose exterior, contrasting black hide interior and black mohair hood. Retaining the original seats which were new to the 4.2 Jaguar E-type, replacing the 'bucket' style seats of the 3.8 model, this trim has been finished to a very high standard and is true to the spirit of the 4.2-litre Jaguar E-type.
Having undergone a full restoration since being imported back into the UK, with the work being undertaken by some of the best in the business and having been finished off and fully inspected by E-Type UK. This E-type represents the perfect opportunity to invest in a classic car which is continuing to go up in value and an E-type which has been built to withstand modern driving conditions, fitted with silicone hoses and uprated electronic fan.
This is an E-type which is not to be missed and is available for immediate inspection at our Kent showrooms, to arrange a viewing please contact Marcus on 01732 852 762.

In 2015, while on consignment to E Type UK, LKE was withdrawn from sale by its owners. Following a disagreement about the way to proceed, the car was put into secure storage. Other matters then took up the owners’ time and the car was not returned to the market from storage until the end of 2020, with just forty-three miles added to the clock since the complete restoration. LKE is now with a new owner and joins a small collection of Jaguar sports cars, from a ’38 SS100 to a 1974 S3 V12 E Type. Following a small amount of recommissioning the car will be ready to join 2021 E Type anniversary celebrations.
