The 1967 Jaguar Series I E-Type Roadster presented here is an outstanding example from the last year the closed headlight 4.2 liter E-Types were offered. Originally delivered to Germany, 11 years later an American serviceman acquired the car and imported it to Florida, where he enjoyed it for many years. The car features many European delivery features such as clear signal lamp lenses all around and is equipped with a very rare locking steering wheel/ignition key setup from the factory; although common now, it was an innovative feature in 1967.

Finished in silver metallic grey with a red interior, the Jaguar has benefited from a complete, no expense spared restoration. All parts were restored or replaced to correct factory specifications which included rebulding the original engine and the transmission, the result of which produced an impressive and very formidable JCNA competitor. A dossier containing all photos, work orders and parts receipts is included in the sale of the Jaguar.

Immediately following the restoration the Jaguar was entered in JCNA competition, where it has consistently scored above 99.6 and won several prizes. Although rarely driven, it is reported that the XKE is an excellent driving example. With many years of continued show field success in its future, this Jaguar offers its next owner years of delight on the concours greens or on the open roads.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
