Sellers description:
1967 JAGUAR SERIES I E-TYPE ROADSTER VIN: 1E14073
This true NO RESERVE auction is for a scarce 1967 Series I Jaguar E-type, or XKE, that has been off the road in clean dry storage since 1981. Blessed with a Heritage Certificate, this numbers matching roadster has the foundation for a restoration that could turn this car into a super collectible prize. Obviously this car had been somewhat neglected, but that said, the current owner has spent many years and tons of money trying to bring it back to an original brilliant state. Sadly, he was never able to complete the project.
The plan had been to change the color of the car to red, hence the noticeable difference in paint tone when you open the bonnet or see the car up in the air. The original Opalescent Golden Sand color still covers a majority of the car. Almost every mechanical component of this car has been meticulously restored including the entire suspension, braking system, complete clutch assembly (flywheel resurfaced) and engine. The interior includes a rare set of 3 rally gauges mounted on the right hand side of the dashboard and original Jaguar seat belts are still present. There is no tool kit or owner's manual.
The engine rebuild alone was performed by the top mechanic at a Long Island, New York Jaguar repair facility. Completely cleaned and examined, it was bored to .020 over with new pistons and Hastings cast iron rings, proven for quick and accurate seating. The crankshaft is original and was polished and balanced with all parts attached. The gold cylinder head was also overhauled with all new guides, valves and top of the line Toke brand valve stem shedders. New original oil pump, totally rebuilt carburetors and OEM gaskets were used to insure the engine would perform at it's peak. The exhaust manifolds are Jet Hot Ceramic coated.
The radiator has been replaced with a high performance all aluminum product and a high volume electric cool fan. The original alternator has been rebuilt, new heater blower motor, most of the rear end parts and many other suspension components have all been powder coated. There are many new parts and original take offs that will go with the car, too numerous to list and we were only able to show a portion of them in the pictures that we took.
This vintage Jaguar car starts right up and will move under it's own power for trailer loading purposes, but it has less than an hour of break-in time on the motor and will need to be sorted before any road time can be advised. There is very adequate parts availability for these beauties making restoration much easier than in days gone by. This Jaguar E-type roadster is fairly straight and it appears to have a high degree of originality with all numbers matching!
The bright work is in fair condition and the speedometer doesn't work. We didn't want to bog you down with pages of Jaguar history and information, considering that most of the enthusiasts looking at this listing will know much more about this car than we do. There is a spare wheel and tire for the car, that is not shown, and a lead head knock off hammer as well.
As you can easily see, the interior is pretty tired, so it needs restoration and the pictures of the body speak for themselves. Most of the electronics work including the wipers. This car IS currently registered and we have a clean transferable registration/title in hand. The older stickers were left on the windshield to show the provenance. This car is almost 50 years old so please forgive us if we've overlooked something minor.
