This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on December 21, 1966 and sold to its first owner, a celebrity hairstylist, in Los Angeles the following June. Power is from a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six and four-speed manual gearbox. The car spent time in Kansas from 2003 through a refurbishment in black over tan four years later in Arizona, then going to Illinois and Wisconsin with subsequent owners from 2008 until its acquisition by the seller. It received scores of over 99 points and first-in-class awards at Jaguar Club and other concours events in the Midwest as well as appearing at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering in 2011. The cam cover gaskets were replaced and the undercarriage detailed in late 2019. This Series I E-Type is offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with a Jaguar-Daimler Heritage certificate, service records from 2007-present, and a clean Illinois title in the owner’s name.

Originally Beige, the body now wears black paintwork that was applied during a full refurbishment in 2007, which the seller reports was carried out by The Olde Car Shop in Phoenix, Arizona. Paint correction was performed in early 2020. The original tan manual soft top has been replaced with a black version. Chrome 15″ wire knock-off wheels are mounted with period-style Dunlop Road Speed RS5 tires. The vehicle was shown in JCNA and other concours d’elegance events around the Midwest between 2008-2011, receiving two firsts in class and three scores of over 99 points from Jaguar Club North America judges. A Best-in-Show award was earned at the Collector’s Car Garage Chicago Cars & Cops car show in June 2019.

The refurbished cockpit is trimmed in Biscuit leather with a matching headliner and carpets as well as a black dash housing early-style toggle switches. Speaker grilles are featured on either side of the center console, though no radio is present.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths tachometer and speedometer, with the latter containing a five-digit odometer that shows 34k miles. Approximately 400 miles have been driven under current ownership, and actual mileage is unknown.

The numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six features dual overhead cams and triple SU carburetors with polished bells, and was rated at 265 horsepower with 283 lb-ft of torque when new. A November 2019 service at Northshore Sportscars in Lake Bluff, Illinois included replacement of the cam cover gaskets and engine bay cleaning.

The manual gearbox features four synchronized forward gears and also wears a stamp matching the chassis plate and Heritage Trust Certificate. The undercarriage was detailed during the 2019 work, and video tours of the area are provided here and here.

Included with the sale are a black soft top boot, a tool roll, a jack and storage bag, manuals, and a grease gun. Service records are said to cover from 2007 present.

The Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate describes VIN, body, and drivetrain numbers as well as the original production date and color scheme. Matching stamps are on the cylinder head, engine block, gearbox, and chassis. JCNA judges sheets from events in 2009 through 2011 are provided.
