Sellers description:
This is a 1967 Jaguar E-type roadster. It is an original rust free California car and still has the California registration in my name. It is equipped with the original 4.2 litre 6 cylinder engine with the 4 speed full synchro transmission. The engine is completely stock with the exception of performance camshafts, a Mallory dual point centrifugal advance only distributor, and a late model AC Delco internally regulated alternator conversion. This is the last of the series 1 cars, manufactured in June of 1967. It has the rare and durable steel wheel option which accept larger tires for better handling. A set of five original chrome wire wheels are also included (no hubs). It has the less desirable but improved night vision open headlamps. ENGINE # 7E13218-9 GEARBOX # EJ14362 BODY # 4E7318 CAR # 1E15480 A 15 year+ restoration to a show quality and very dependable driver level has just been completed by myself, a 30+ year experienced certified mechanic and restorer, specializing in Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, and many other fine vehicles.

Vehicle Condition
I will try to describe this Jaguar as much and as honest as I can, The very few items the car may need and the very minor problems it has I will mention thruout this description. I purchased this car as an unfinished work in progress several years ago from a good friend in California when I used to live there. He had owned it since the mid 1980's and had completed many items such as re-plating and had also purchased many parts. The car was completley disassembled except for the rear differential and front suspension, which were rebuilt by the owner before him. The outer body was stripped and painted around 1990 at a cost of over $6000.00. Mercedes Benz "Glasomax" urathane paint was used. The color is "Signal Red". Beneath the front and rear bumpers and on the firewall "Rockguard" was used as a protectant. The only damage history I could see that was repaired was at the left rear corner below the bumper. This is evident if the fuel tank is removed, but only minor and may have happened years before. The body now shows only a few very minor dents that happened thru the years while in storage, one in the middle of the drivers door, one near the drivers side windscreen wiper pivot, and one on the bonnet (a box fell on it). These are only dings, and did not damage the paint, they could be removed by a competent "paintless" dent remover company. There are some other small imperfections in a few spots, but you have to look for them, otherwise the paint is absolutley beutiful and the body is very straight. (I should mention that upon completion about 4 months ago was the first time this car has driven in over 15 years. I drove it about 50 miles as "test pilot" with no problems, drives like brand new). The underside is all original and is rust free, and very clean. There were some minor scrapes under the floors that I straightend and undercoated. The exhaust system is original, but is still very solid and has no leaks. The differential is very clean and has new brake rotors, calipers and pads installed. There is no wheel bearing, carrier bearing, or gear noise, the parking brake works good, the shocks and springs were replaced, and the driveshaft is rebuilt. The front suspension is also clean and in good solid condition. Some of the parts were removed for inspection, cleaning and painting. Also on the front are new rotors, calipers, and wheel bearings. The steering is excellent, the steering shaft has new universal joints and the column was overhauled. The torsion bars are original, and the front of the car sits a little low. They can be replaced, or an adjustment kit installed, however the car handles great as it is. The tires are new and the wheels are clean. The brake and clutch cylinders have all been rebuilt, as was the booster. Lucas synthetic brake fluid was installed. The engine was completley disassembled, inspected, cleaned, re-assembled, sealed, painted and polished. New core plugs and engine mountings were installed. The cylinder head was sent out for overhaul using all new valves, seats and guides. It was also painted and polished. The three S.U. carburators were completley disassembled, walnut shell blasted, polished, and assembled using new kits, floats, diaphragms and needles. The intake manifold was polished, the exhaust manifolds are original and in good condition with some ceramic coming off. The cooling system is all new including a rebuilt radiator, new water pump, hoses, clamps, restored expansion tank, and an updated fan motor (I have the original). The transmission was removed, cleaned, inspected, re-sealed, and painted. A new clutch disc, throw out bearing, and transmission mount bushings were also installed. All of the fasteners (nuts, bolts, washers, bushings, clips etc.) have all been replaced with new or restored. All the wiring on the car has been restored using some new looms and some original looms. A 50 amp main fuse has been added near the battery, which can be removed for anti-theft purposes. The dash pad and leather seats have been restored by California Upholstery Co. in Garden Grove. using genuine English kits. The instument panels have been recovered, and all the guages, switches and controls have been removed, cleaned and painted as required. Everything works except the clock. All lights, signals, dip beams, hazards, heater, choke (new cables) etc. all work as they should. The original steering wheel has been re-finished and polished. The horn works. The rest of the interior is all new from a complete kit including the top, carpeting, and door panels. All rubber sealing on the car is new, a few pieces still need to be installed. The original Motorola am-fm stereo radio that came with the car is included and works great but is not installed in the car. Also there is no antenna hole, maybe never had a radio? No outside mirrors installed, these cars came from the factory without them, but I do have two new ones. The windshield is new, the wipers and washers have all been rebuilt to work like new, including "park". The original fuel pump has been rebuilt, however the other day after sitting for a month I had to tap it to get it going, its been fine since then. The engine sounds excellent, has a slightly lopey idle, and has alot of power (stock rating is 265 hp). The car drives very straight and solid, the brakes are excellent. The transmission shifts good and tight, and the clutch is also excellent. Sometimes, not always, the second gear syncro will grind a little if it is shifted to slow. The deck lid springs were replaced but, due to the weight of the luggage rack, won't quite stay open without a prop. More springs can be added. The fuel tank was flushed and coated (it was not rusted), the fuel screen, float, and lines were all replaced. A spare wheel & tire, a jack, wrench, and owners manual are included, as well as some books, extra parts and parts reciepts thru the years. All the locks and keys work and are correct. This was not a "quick" restoration, many long hours were put in with attention to detail, much of it being hard to see. This is a rare collectable car that can only go up in value, unlike most expensive automobiles these days. It is a car you can be proud to own, drive and show, not one you or anyone else should "not touch". I don't want to sell it but now I need to. My reserve is much lower than I have invested in it. The car is also advertised locally. Thank you very much for your time reading all this, and for looking, and for bidding!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
