Car to be at auction 4/15
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 149 - 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 ½ 4.2 Roadster
Estimate: €70,000 - €90,000
Registration Number: Austrian Registered
Chassis Number: 1E15896

This wonderful late E-Type series one was built and delivered by Jaguar Cars Ltd, Browns Lane, Coventry in July 1967 as a left hand drive version.

Finished in Carmen Red with Black leather upholstery, black hood and matching carpets, this Jaguar is in excellent condition throughout.

This car has been kept a long time in the dry climate of Italy by la Signora Antonietta Baldi of Padova, enjoying driving her E-Type on the picturesque roads leading to Venice. A few years ago, Mrs. Baldi sold the car to a Jaguar enthusiast and friend Mr. Franco Poncioni, a well-known restaurateur and motorsport enthusiast... in Austria. Mr. Poncioni had the car fully overhauled and decided to make the car a little more sporty by fitting 2 sets of "E-Type Lightweight" aluminium wheels and tightening the suspension all round, giving the car a "Jaguar Racing" allure.

Sleek and beautiful, with a competition pedigree, the E-Type became a star on the road as well on the race track. This is one of the most recognized styling icon of the post war era.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
