Acquired privately from a gentleman in London, this superlative example has sadly come to market as the result of a deceased estate. A ‘no expense spared’ restoration by classic specialists, Kimber Garage was the first order of the day it was decided by our vendor. So back to bare metal and with all moving parts removed. The original colour of green with green interior was then changed to gunmetal silver/grey and a dark red interior by renowned trim specialist B.A.C. International. A far more purposeful combination. It had already benefitted from a left to righthand drive conversion so this ‘Big Cat’ was undergoing a proper transformation. Whilst in its constituent parts, the engine and gearbox were rebuilt with new triple 45DCO Weber carburettors and a stainless steel exhaust and new chrome wire wheels were fitted. All the suspension has been dismantled and stripped then painted and polybushed. Complete with a full 12 months MoT test certificate, this has been well restored, over time, and presented in excellent condition throughout.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
