Sellers description:
You are bidding on a 1968 Jaguar xke 4.2 Litre. I found this jaguar in Michigan , tucked away under cover since 1973. The past owner told me a little about this car. It was her husband's car, an Aero Space Engineer, who purchased it back around 1970. He took out the original engine & replaced it with a 351 Cleveland HO ( high output ). The owner did modify the engine mounting bars also. It appears that he took a lot of time designing - so that engine would fit. The original engine had been sold. The owner's wife told me the engine put out 500 HP & was frequently raced around a track. This car has rust in the rockers and other parts of body. This is a project car.
Vehicle Condition:
Vehicle ID Numbers follow :
* Car # 16438
* Body # 4 E 8444
* Engine # 7E15165-9
* Gearbox # FE1362
* Mileage: 66,152. I believe this is correct.
* Engine: Does not run presently. I have notes on what was done to this engine back around 1970 . A 351 Cleveland HO (high output ), Boss 351 heads installed in 1971, 429 cobra jet valve springs, Shelby Cam, Shelby lifters, and etc. Owner appeared to had completely rebuilt the engine around 1970. Car has been sitting since then in storage. I do not know the condition of the engine now; Assume that it needs rebuilt.
* Exhaust system: Needs one, partially there.
* Transmission: Automatic, Ford FMX auto
* Brakes: Need serviced
* Body: Jag has the normal rust. The rockers have rust on the lower edges; Some rust behind doors & rear tires. The floors appear good, but a few areas are dented. And there is surface rust.
* Doors: Good fit
* Bonnet: Good fit
* Interior: Needs replaced, Gauges all there, Additional gauges around radio.
* Chrome: Complete, but needing replated
* Convertible top: Needs one
* Trunk area: Good shape
* Complete car: Yes, except for spare tire.
* Jack & hammer: Yes
* Rollbar: Yes
This is a project car. Please do not ask me " What will it take to get it running?" This car has been in storage since 1970.
