Car sold at the 2004 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale for $46,440.
Description:
"Only the "top" has been replaced on this outstanding E-type 4.2 roadster. Even the interior is "totally" original. It has all of the original books, tools, boot and jack in their original bags. It runs like it looks with no mechanical problems. This is an unmolested car!"

The VIN is consistent with a '68 Series 1.5 open headlight roadster built about July-August 1968.

Continuing on Bryan's comment above, this car is well into the '68 production. The bonnet is likely from a 3.8L car. It is well documented that open headlight production ocurred during Jan of '67. Cars being registered as a "later" year is not without precident but a car registered as an earlier year is unusual. Interesting that the BJ auction commented that the car was "totally" unmolested car since the year and bonnet are inconsistent with its VIN.
