This 1967 Jaguar 'E' type 4.2 roadster is an original right hand drive English car but we are informed that it is believed that the car has spent some time in the United States of America during its life.
Unfortunately the present owner and vendor is unaware of much of the early history of the car but it was subject to a bare metal respray and a mechanical overhaul in 1991 since when, by way of interest, it has only completed a mere 7000 miles. Work done included a reconditioning of the engine, new brakes and a new bonnet and there is a photographic history of thiswork in the documentation office.
This very good car is painted in Carmen Red with the Black interior trim and has the 4235cc six cylinder engine fitted with the manual four speed gearbox. It has a current M.O.T. test until July next year and of course it is exempt from paying for the road fund licence.

I have owned the car since 1998. The bodyword is currently undergoing a full restoration at CMC, retorers of 9600HP and other historically significant Jaguars. The car was bought on the advice of a "professional" assessor but we eventually found that there were major structural faults in the bodywork. Lessons learned: (1) There is no such thing as a bargian E-Type, only hidden faults. (2) Don't rely entirely on the advice of others unless dealing with one of the established top rate organisations like CMC. Despite the roblems, the car is a cherished member of our family!

The car has been back on the road since May 2008. Engine is now fully run in and it is running very well. The most important point is that since CMC put it back together it has been RELIABLE as well as looking superb. The attached picture shows it back to its carefully matched original silver with black roof.

I was 8 when my Dad took me to by this car from a builder in Crawley. 1977 for £1200. I drove one last weekend and thought how rock and roll my Mum must have been to drive at a 100 with my two younger sisters down to the beach that summer. We had to scream when we hit a hundred. Remember taking three cars at a time and all waving out of the back in the process. I used to Gunk the wire wheels and be rewarded by a spin. And the last spin my Dad came close overtaking a Triumph 2500 which unfortunately decided to over take a van. Up on the verge and touching wings at 90, we rubbed the brown paint from the Triumph off the white bodywork before Mum saw! It was white and have pictures of those glorious times. I just saw your post from a couple of years ago saying that the front picture frame for my car (chassis 1E1869) is in Australia. This is interesting as I deliberately kept the "original" frame on my car when it was restored - and it is stamped with the correct chassis number. Of course, these things are not difficult to fabricate, in both senses of the word!. Can you elaborate on where in Australia?

By the way, I believe that I do have the original car, as engine and gearbox numbers are as supplied new and per the heritage certificate.

There is a re-created E-type with Car Number 1E1869 in Australia. It was built by by John Gill and John Byrne in Brisbane Australia using a new body tub supplied by Glen Olsen. All other parts are Jaguar originals. This build started in the late 1980s and was complete early to mid 1990s It has engine number 7E4093-9. It has primrose exterior. This is a very well built car, and would be better than anything produced by the factory back in the 1960s. They sold the car about 1999-2000. I saw this Australian re-creation advertised in Melbourne, Australia on Carsales.com.au back in May 2010. The asking price was then was AU$128,500.
