car is for sale from "Hangar136"
www.hangar136.com/vehicle/jaguar-e-type-series-1-5-ots/
Description
Originally manufactured in 1967 and first registered in December of that year, this UK-delivered, right-hand drive Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 Roadster – chassis no. 1E1916 – presents in Midnight Blue with Black leather trim and wears the highly desirable registration ‘6 BLU’, included in the sale.
This E-Type has been in long-term family ownership since 1980, with just three registered keepers in total, two from the same household.
Between 2006 and 2008, the car was subject to a comprehensive restoration carried out by AWS Engineering of Chipping Norton, documented through extensive invoices present in the history file.
The restoration included:
Full bare-metal body respray
Complete mechanical overhaul, including engine and cylinder head rebuild
Partial interior trim refit and reassembly
Rewiring and electrical rectification
Suspension and braking system rebuild
New clutch, exhaust, fuel system, and ancillaries
Detailed labour logs and parts invoices confirm the depth and quality of the work carried out during this period, culminating in the car’s return to the road in early 2008.
In preparation for sale in 2025, the car was entrusted to Performance Assessments Ltd for comprehensive recommissioning totalling over £9,000, having been in storage for several years.
The work included:
Full brake system overhaul (master cylinders, servo, calipers, lines)
Cooling system flush, new hoses and water pump
Replacement of speedometer and rev counter generator
Rectification of bonnet latch geometry and bonnet alignment
New steering rack mounts and grease service
Electrical repairs to lighting, horn, and dash instruments
New period correct style steering wheel with horn push
Comprehensive general servicing: oil/filter change, distributor points, differential and gearbox oil replacement, new fuel pump, suspension boot service
The result is a well-sorted, mechanically sound example of the increasingly rare and collectible Series 1.5 E-Type, ready to be enjoyed immediately.
Included with the car at the asking price is the long-associated and valuable number plate ‘6 BLU’, which the car has worn for decades and is an wonderful finishing touch to this gorgeous British classic.
