My father gave me a Etype Coupe pressed metal toy as a 9th birthday present. First mistake. Bought my Etype while at Uni, saving the money for it by picking spuds and labouring. It\\\'s been in my garage for over 30 years. There\\\'s nothing like a day in the office, behind the wheel, on the open road speeding along in the Etype.

Restoration of this E Type is about to begin.

    2015-10-02 04:22:55 | Andrew Stuart Smith writes:

The Jaguar Heritage Certificate indicated that the colour was Golden Sand. However scanning the colour of the original factory finish Picture-frame revealed that the colour is actually Silver Sand, which was only an official Jaguar Colour some time after 1968. I think that Golden Sand as a colour (As per the Jaguar Formula), may have never existed. Most of the Golden Sand cars in the data base are actually Silver Sand in colour. Another Jaguar mystery.

By the way does anyone have a Series 1 Gearbox looking for a home? I need one to complete this car.

The Engine for 1E21145, 7E7185-9, has at last been completely rebuilt. New Liners, Pistons, Rings, Mains, Little-ends, Valves, Seats, Guides, Chains, Tensioners, Cam Bearings and of course now with a fully ballanced Crank. About 40 years ago after a previous rebuild, the Oil Pressure Relief Valve Bearing let go and with the low oil pressure the Engine threw a thrust bearing. Following this, the car was dismantled and the engine suffered from the elements, as it was stored without spark plugs. The Engine is now ready to be reunited with the body.

It has been a pleasure to restore this E Type. Good Father Son project. Used as many original parts as possible.

For the body, which had no rust from new, it was not necessary to do anything other than paint as the body had been paint prepped 38 Years ago before it went into storage.

Most of the original interior was reused.

    Installed refurbished original cabies.

After the motor rebuild, and installed in the car it started within 10 Minutes, following careful oil priming of all the galleries. The motor sang. Thank you Roy for your assistance.

Off to the painters to complete the above waist line painting.

This car is now registered and back on the road. Time to sort any running in bugs.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
