July 1967, 4. 2 Fhc, genuine rhd, matching numbers, 90, 000 miles.
The car’s Heritage Certificate tells us this E-Type was manufactured on 6 July 1967, before being dispatched to distributors Henly’s of London later in the month and finally registered in February 1968.
The chassis number identifies it as chassis #6 of the so-called S1. 5s and makes it a very interesting and rare car indeed as it has an identical spec to the S1, with enclosed headlights, toggle switches and polished cam covers. The Heritage certificate describes it as a Series 1 so whether it is actually one of the very last S1 E-Types is a point you can discuss with E-Type Club Members at your leisure.
The car has extensive history back to the mid seventies, with only 4 former keepers and still has its original colour combination of opalescent silver blue paintwork and dark blue trim. All numbers match and it is a genuine UK rhd car in very good running order. A wad of MOT certificates support the current mileage.
The car has had extensive restoration work done between 2014 and 2018 before and during my ownership with substantial supporting invoices, but will require some further tidying to bring up to the highest standard and is priced accordingly.
All rusty panels were removed and replaced, the engine was removed and checked, the braking system was renewed and upgraded to Coopercraft, suspension was replaced where necessary including torsion bars and radius arms and the car received new wiring looms.
Cosmetically the car was resprayed, chrome replaced or rechromed where necessary and interior trim replaced or refreshed where necessary. Much of the interior is original, including seats, rear deck and head lining and is in super, patinaed condition.
The bad points are that the paintwork has micro-blistered on the bonnet, wings and rear tailgate and will need attention and the chrome on the rechromed rear bumpers is lifting.
The car has just had fresh oil and coolant, a carb tune up and a new header tank and is ready to go. It is priced to sell and the private plate is included at asking price.

Auction description:
Lot 258
1967 Jaguar E-Type 'Series 1' 4.2-Litre Coupé
Goodwood Festival of Speed|12 July 2024, 14:00 BST|Chichester, Goodwood
Registration no. 435 XKE
Chassis no. 1E 21589
Engine no. 7E 13977-9
• Well known in E-Type circles
• A UK-supplied matching-numbers car
• Restored in 2017/2018 (bills available)
• Numerous upgrades
• Substantial history file dating back to the 1970s
Manufactured on 6th July 1967 during this transitional period, '435 XKE' is well known in E-Type circles and took part in the E-Type's 60th anniversary celebrations at Shelsey Walsh in 2021. This car has numerous characteristics of the Series 1: toggle switches, polished cam covers, single cooling fan and covered headlights to name but four. Nevertheless, '1E 21589' is identified as a 'Series 1½' in Jaguar Archivist Anders Ditlef Clausager's book Factory Original Jaguar E-Type.
A UK-supplied matching-numbers car finished in its original colour scheme of Opalescent Silver Blue with Dark Blue leather interior, the car was restored in 2017/2018. Works included fitting a new fuel tank, floor pans, sills and front sub-frame, while upgrades include electronic ignition, Coopercraft brakes, thermostatic radiator fan, stainless steel exhaust, uprated front torsion bars, and uprated Polybush radius arms. Related receipts for all parts totalling more than £12,000 may be found in the substantial history file, which dates back to the late 1970s and also contains other bills running into tens of thousands of pounds together with a quantity of expired MoTs and tax discs and a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. Also included in the sale are a quantity of interior trim parts, two door-cards, front and rear windscreen surrounds and a pair of front bumpers. According to our vendor, this handsome E-Type coupé can be enjoyed 'as is' or further improved as required.
