This is a beautiful left hand drive 1965 Jaguar XKE Fixed Head Coupe. It is the 4.2 liter version which Jaguar started building on October 9, 1964 and this car is the 181st one built. It is the 9:1 compression ratio engine. Another very unique thing about this car is the Webasto Continental Sun-Roof that was installed in the Jaguar factory. The car has had three owners. The first was a gentleman that was a Doctor in the Navy. He garaged it while he had it but due to being deployed much of his career the car was very infrequently driven. My Grandfather bought the car from the Doctor in Los Angeles, California where he lived and again took care of the car not driving it much and keeping it garaged. I bought the car from my Grandfather in 1993 and like everyone else garaged it and pampered the car. Because of the tender loving care this car has received it only has 31,096 original miles on it and is in exceptional shape. The car has never been smoked in, no accidents, only minor door dings on the original paint job, runs great and is a real treasure. Recently we have replaced the headliner, carpets, and center console to factory specifications. It comes with many extra's including an additional wire spoke wheel, original operating, maintenance, and service handbook, periodic maintenance vouchers, original maintenance service posters, and much more. It even has the original upholstered board (as shown in pictures) that you put on the passenger side so shorter passengers could brace their feet against something if they could not reach the floor.

This car has many early 4.2 features:rear floor mat instead of glued vynle, fuzzy material on fender wells instead of vynel, leather 3.8 type shift boot, glass washer bottle instead of plastic, post type rear hatch holderupper,no alternator shield, vin number stamped on builder plate is 30181 without the prefix1E( it is known that the first few hundred 4.2 cars had no 1E prefix stamped).I believe this to be the oldest surviving webasto sunroof 4.2 car.I bought it for that reason but find it is so much fun I just leave the sunroof open all the time.Next best thing to a roadster.I did a cosmetic restoration on car and its now looking very nice. What a joy to work on a rust free car!Anyone have info on the webasto sunroof cars? I heard that the Webasto people came into the jaguar factory at Coventry to install them from a person who worked there then.
