Vehicle Condition
The positives. This is the right car. The car is in driveable condition. It has the 4.2 liter engine with the 4 speed all synchromesh transmission. (If you have ever driven a pre 1965 Jaguar you know this is the best choice of drive train.) All with matching numbers. The headlights are under glass and the taillights are above the bumper. Changes made on the Series II cars compromise the original design and take away from the ultimate good looks. This car is not an automatic or a 2+2 configuration. Sportcar Services of Mequon, WI rated this vehicle as a 3.5 out of 5. This is based on a strong, clean tub. Car appears to have never been in a serious accident. The hood opens and closes beautifully. It has good tires. Vehicle starts immediately and runs great. Transmission shifts excellent. My opinion the chrome is 7/10, interior 8/10, headliner 9.5/10. The interior color is dark blue. I am the 6th owner; the car is originally from California which indicates why the body is in great condition. The 4th owner swears that the mileage is 45,000+ however I can not document this. The negatives. The car has been repainted black from the original silver blue. Previous to my owning the car, someone opened the drivers side door to far, and put a line in the paint on the front fender. I have fixed the door correctly so that it can no longer be opened to far. On the passenger side, two very minor marks are visible. The steering wheel has been replaced with an aftermarket unit. An Alpine stereo with CD has been installed.

This E-Type is a driver! It was originally a California car. I purchased it November 2000. I've kept it garaged when not on the road. The maintenance has been kept up. The carburetors and rear end were rebuilt summer 2003. New alternator and battery installed and brake pads replaced December 2003. Electronic ignition and Brake light switch installed August 2004. Inspected by a Jaguar mechanic for the purpose of resale June 2003 (I decide not to sale). The inspector was Mike Collins Tech Advisor to the Jaguar Car Club of North Florida. He was trained in the early 1960s at Browns Lane! He said the car was sound and trustworthy. In fact, he said he would trust it on a trip to Alaska!

The condition of the car is consistent with this mileage. This car has been repainted once in a still glossy black. (the original color was opalescent silver blue). The original blue leather seats and floor mats are in very presentable condition as is the remainder of the interior. An ideal candidate for a complete restoration, due to its mostly original components, it remains an automobile you can proudly drive and enjoy until you ready to do a restoration.
