Saw car at Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California, August 2005. Owner says car was originally Opalescrnt Metallic Blue. Car is now a very dark, non-metallic blue. Owner says color is older BMW color Lapis Blue. Car appeared to be in very nice condition.

Lot #158689
This 1965 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe was acquired by the late owner in 1993 and was refurbished in the late 1990s. It is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in dark blue over dark blue leather, the car is equipped with enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, dual side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, and an aftermarket CD stereo. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered on dealer consignment as part of Mohr Imports’ Monterey Car Week Collection with purchase documents, the owner’s manual, service records, handwritten service notes, spare parts, and a clean California title.
The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example is finished in dark blue and was repainted in the late 1990s. Additional equipment includes enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, dual bullet-style side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Pirelli P4000 tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in dark blue leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, and a Blaupunkt CD stereo.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 13k miles. Approximately 23k miles were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in 1995.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Purchase documents, factory literature, service records, and handwritten maintenance notes are included in the sale.
