Rightly considered one of the most influential sports cars ever produced, Jaguar’s beautiful and potent E-Type debuted to widespread acclaim at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, and it was steadily updated, enhanced, and improved throughout its run. In addition to improved creature comforts following its debut, major updates by autumn 1964 included a displacement increase to 4.2 liters and a welcome switch to a smoother-shifting, new full-synchromesh gearbox.

This incredibly original 1965 Jaguar E-Type Fixed Head Coupe, chassis 1E31616, is a thrilling find, being spectacularly well preserved and maintained. Assembled on August 24, 1965, and dispatched on September 2, 1965, to Jaguar of Eastern Canada in Montreal, this E-Type continues to sport its factory-original Opalescent Silver Grey enamel paint finish over red leather upholstery.

In 2009, Lee Barba of New York became the second registered owner of the E-Type, at just 13,000 miles. That year, the Jaguar was sent to the UK marque specialists at Eagle E-Types, where the car received a mechanical restoration. In addition to a full Eagle-specification engine rebuild, the comprehensive work included expert attention to all mechanical systems, plus application of body-cavity wax protection. Nearly £79,000 was invested in this restoration and Eagle E-Types later described this Jaguar as, “Quite simply the best unrestored Coupe ever found."

John Schwamm of Arizona acquired the E-Type later in 2012 to become only its third registered owner. It retains all earmarks of an exceptionally well-preserved and unrestored example, with the factory paint finish, glass, rubber seals, trim, leather upholstery, and accessories all remaining in virtual museum-quality condition. Other incredible factory details include the distinctive hardware, spot welds, paint techniques, and even the factory-applied body number markings.

In late 2021, the E-Type was entrusted to Jaguar marque expert Jeff Snyder of Jeff’s Resurrections near Austin, Texas, for inspection and select professional detailing. Snyder, a Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance award-winning restorer, whose restorations have routinely garnered multiple 99- and 100-point scores at JCNA-judged concours events, took video footage of the car for posterity and confirmed the serial numbers for the E-Type’s chassis, body, engine, and mechanicals match those recorded on the leather-bound Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate accompanying the vehicle at auction. An extensive dossier of restoration invoices, photographs, video, and detailed reports also come with the sale of this stellar E-type, plus the original mechanical parts that were removed by Eagle E-Types during the 2012 mechanical restoration.

In summary, this extraordinarily original 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2-Litre Fixed Head Coupe offers unmatched display, concours, and vintage touring capabilities and provides the most discerning collector an exceptional opportunity.
