Sellers description:
1966 JAGUAR E-TYPE XKE 4.2 LITER FIXED HEAD COUPE. BRITISH RACING GREEN WITH BEIGE TRIM. 4-SPEED. CHROME WIRE WHEELS. ALL #'S MATCH.
Offered for sale here on Ebay, from KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS, is this 1966 Jaguar E-type 4.2 Two-Seater Fixed Head Coupe. It appears to have left the factory in the attractive color scheme of British Racing Green with Beige trim. This car has a full matching numbers drivetrain, is highly original, and has never been taken apart or disassembled. It is totally complete except for the rear glass and two windshield trim items, and is a very good car for major restoration. The engine is currently stuck from years of sitting, and would most likely be rebuilt during the restoration process anyway. The car has lived most of it's life in the state of Texas.
The body on the car needs main floors, outer and partial inner rockers, door skins, boot floor, and repairs to the trunk area. The bonnet on the car is very decent with no accident damage, and very good shape to it. Overall, the body work is very straight on the car and panels line up reasonably well. The car has all of its glass and brightwork in very decent condition.
The interior trim on the car is highly original with exception of the carpets. At one point, an interesting aftermarket period air conditioning system ( "Arctic Air" ) was installed to the car which probably worked quite well. All the components are still attached and the unit is complete. The car still retains the owner's manual and some other literature that was sold with the car when new.
The front subframe assemblies look very good, staright, and strong along with the main chassis rails. The inner part of the chassis has a coating of oil from the driveline components, which I'm sure has helped preserve a large portion of the car over the years.
The car has it's original VIN / chassis plate which all the numbers match to.
Overall, a complete numbers matching, highly desirable Series One 4.2 Liter Coupe for restoration, in a desirable original color scheme. This car is a very worthwhile project in the current Jaguar E-type market, and will prove to be a great investment going forward...
The car is located in Southern California and can be viewed by appointment. It is sold with a current and clear CA title.
