Ebay item 7/17/21
Current bid: $21,300 reserve not met 5 bids 9 days left in auction, seller dusty356a, 13k miles, car now said to be in Pleasanton, California, previously San Jose, CA.
Seller's description:
1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Liter Fixed-head coupe: Garaged California car; 100%-solid-original-metal; superb body gaps; all numbers match; low original miles; rare Opalescent Dark Green/Beige color combination; new redline tires; restored condition; collector grade E-type. Stunning car, drives beautifully. Please note the 1993 registration tags. We purchased this car from an Eldorado Hills, CA, estate: The previous owner spent lavishly over decades restoring this car and unfortunately never completed the work. We spent the last 3 months finishing it, and the quality of this car is difficult to overstate. Heritage Certificate included.

This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe was previously owned by Grammy Award-winning musician Ray LaMontagne and was restored in 2016. It is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in Opalescent Dark Green over Light Tan leather, and equipment includes Tri-Bar headlights, 15″ knock-off alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and triple SU carburetors. The seller acquired the car in 2020 and their shop subsequently performed a restoration audit. This XKE is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a jack and tool wrap, an owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a set of wire wheels and Coker tires, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
The Series I E-Type features covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example was refinished in its factory shade of Opalescent Dark Green during the 2016 restoration. Details include a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, a side-hinged rear hatch, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. Tri-Bar headlamps were installed in 2022.
The 15″ staggered Dunlop-style alloy wheels are secured b two-eared spinners and were mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in 2022. A set of knock-off wire wheels and Coker redline tires is included in the sale. GAZ dampers have been installed and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The brakes and suspension were overhauled during the restoration.
The cabin was restored in 2016 and features bucket seats upholstered in Light Tan leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, and a heater. The seat belts were replaced in August 2022, and a replacement shifter boot was installed in September 2022
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 15k miles, about 700 of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. A stainless-steel header and link pipe kit were installed along with a replacement exhaust manifold gasket in September 2023, and a polished exhaust manifold heat shield was fitted in October 2023.
The cylinder head stamp matches the number listed on the Heritage Certificate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
The Ohio title is a replacement.
