    Auction description:

    SCOTTSDALE 2017
    1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I FHC
    Consignment # 8173

Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 19th - 22nd, 2017 at Russo and Steele's 17th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.

From the Arie Luyendyk Auto Collection, this 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I is titled under his name. Recently completed this high-quality workmanship restoration (2012-2015) of this spectacular series one fixed head coupe, with all matching numbers and factory heritage certificate.

Goal for this 3-year restoration process was to make it a showcase series, in which can be driven occasionally like for the Copperstate rally.

Frame off, engine and drive line removed, the original black exterior body paint was stripped to bare metal with no rust whatsoever and a durable 2 stage paint silver grey metallic (Opalescent gunmetal grey, original used by factory) applied. The car retains its original floors. Complete new dark red leather interior installed, the instrumentation is correct as are the rocker switches, apart from the clock all gauges are fully functional.

New wire wheels, bumpers, and all chrome moldings re-chromed. A 3 carbs system was added as well as a 5-speed transmission for smooth ride, also Wilwood front brakes were installed for increased safety and retrofitted airco for convenience driving in Arizona. All body parts fitting as expected, durable Michelin tires installed. Cylinder head was rebuilt, no smoke after starting up, great power with strong oil pressure. Countless hours and lots of TLC went into this gorgeous classy collector car.

Full body frame off restoration, as well as cylinder head and transmission, complete interior renewal. New wire wheels, bumpers and moldings re-chromed. Backup invoices totaling over $95,000 excluding 2 stage paint job!

    Description from above auciton:

    1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2-Litre Fixed Head Coupe

    Chassis no. 1E 32560

    Engine no. 7E 7762-9

Lot Number 114 Sold For $170,500

Formerly owned by Indy 500 winner Arie Luyendyk

Numbers-matching 4.2-liter engine, both head and block

A comprehensive restoration with more than $95,000 in receipts

Upgraded disc brakes, air conditioning, and five-speed transmission

    Includes Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate

The car offered here underwent a three-year frame-off restoration and was, until recently, owned by Indianapolis 500 winner Arie Luyendyk. This project included the removal of the drivetrain and complete rebuilds on the cylinder head and the triple SU carburetors. During the restoration, a five-speed transmission, Wilwood disc brakes, and a modern air conditioning system were installed for comfortable touring. These upgrades can easily be removed to return this car to original mechanical specification.

During the restoration, the body was discovered to be rust-free; the car even retains its original floors. The exterior trim and bumpers were re-chromed, and the car wears new wire wheels with Michelin radial tires. Though originally finished in black, the E-Type received a fresh repaint in Opalescent Silver Grey, a correct factory color for 1966. A fresh red leather interior was installed, and all interior components, save for the clock, are correct and functioning properly.

With limited miles since the restoration was completed, and a comprehensive binder of receipts documenting the $95,000 in work done (not including the paint work), this Jaguar is in exceptional condition throughout and is sure to inspire passion and envy in 2017, much as it did in 1966.
