Hammer Price £9000.00
Mileage 39268

Trim Colour GREEN
Chassis No 1E33400

This 1966 Jaguar 'E' Type 4.2 fixed head coupe has been rebuilt from the ground up and fully restored by the present owner over the last seven years. Apart from the natural chassis and bodywork he has had a factory reconditioned engine, a new gearbox and a new differential fitted.
The car was originally supplied to Jaguar cars in New York in September 1966 and when the car returned to the U.K. he decided to leave it in its original left hand drive format and since it was completed, just over two years ago, it has covered a mere 6500 miles.
The car now is in outstanding condition throughout, with a brand new green leather trim and upholstery, and the vendor informs us that the engine has also been converted to run on unleaded fuel.
Please note: This car has a heritage certificate in the history file.

Auction description:
1966 Jaguar E-Type FHC Series I 4.2 'Lightweight' Replica
Registration Number: FEC 123D
Chassis Number: IE 33400
Engine Number: 7E100669
One of the twentieth century's greatest motoring icons, the Jaguar E-type inspires devotion like few other cars. Born out of the fabulous D-type racer, it soon acquired a strong competition heritage of its own. Faster and more glamorous than virtually all its production rivals, it took the 1961 Geneva Motor Show by storm. Few peers could live with its 150mph top speed or savage acceleration that allowed it to touch 60mph in less than seven seconds. In an age when a decent family saloon could call upon its engine for 65bhp, the E-type's 3781cc (4235cc from 1964), dohc, straight six produced an additional 200bhp. While Ferrari's lauded 250 SWB and its 250 GTO successor made do with live rear axles, the E-type utilised a sophisticated independent rear set-up with inboard disc brakes. Rack and pinion steering enabled a driver to make the most of the monocoque chassis's excellent roadholding and handling, putting it light years ahead of American designs like the Corvette. In an attempt to source a structurally sound shell, this particular example was imported from the USA some years ago. Bought with the intention of transforming it into a replica of one of the legendary 'Lightweight' E-type racers that were immortalised by Graham Hill, Roy Salvadori et al, it was fully stripped and refurbished before being converted to right-hand drive. Shorn of its bumpers and fitted with a GRP bonnet, weight was further reduced by the use of special featherweight door trims and perspex rear three-quarter windows. The interior was retrimmed gaining more supportive green leather seats, suede covered steering wheel, full race harnesses and a fire extinguisher. Mechanically, its brake and suspension assemblies were thoroughly overhauled. Suitably upgraded they were able to cope with the extra power developed by the rebuilt 4235cc engine. Breathing via triple twin choke Dellorto DHLA 45 carburettors, this modified unit ran very well upon a recent inspection. Described by the vendor as handling very well and being a delight to drive, it certainly has electrifying performance. In the last year alone, FEC 123D has received over £9,000 worth of fettling by marque specialist Brian Wilkinson. Fully 'set-up' by him, it has benefited from the installation of a five-speed Getrag manual gearbox, new clutch differential and period alloy racing wheels etc. In good to very good overall condition, this canary yellow thoroughbred has great potential as either a fast road car or track playmate. Offered for sale with V5 registration document, MOT current until March 2004 and road tax (exempt).
Estimate: £14,000 - £16,000

Price is much much too high for condition

Jaguar E-type, the car that makes many hearts beat faster. Superlatives fail to describe this model. The Series 1 coupé: Designed in the late 1950s with the legendary Le-Mans D-type in mind. The development was a revolution in the automotive industry. Malcolm Sayer, who had earned his spurs in the aviation industry, designed the car in the wind tunnel and the graceful shapes and curves were not just for aesthetic reasons, but mainly related to aerodynamics. This late model carries the improvements that came into effect from 63 onwards, these included a bigger engine of 4.2 liters instead of 3.8, more comfortable seats and better brakes and electronics.

The 1966 E-type that we offer here carries the DNA of Le mans and the Lightweight versions. The car has been modified by its owner with rides and rallies in mind, while retaining the classic E-type looks.

The silver paint and bumperless look refer to the legendary lightweight model, subtly also fitted with the correct bonnet straps and Dunlop aluminum wheels.

Under the light polyester hood hides the legendary massive 4.2 block that is fed by 3 Weber carburettors.

Everything inside the cabin also exudes the racing spirit. Polycarbonate windows, comfortable burgundy leather XJS seats, beautifully finished dashboard and racing door panels, black Alcantara roof and burgundy trunk lining with large fire extinguisher and the solid Dunlop spare wheel within reach.
