This is the car as it arrived from Classic Jaguar, in better shape than had been promised. There were no issues on this very nice unrestored driver. The 42,000 on the clock is legit, I believe; the condition of the car bears it out.

Lot #113581

This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe is finished in white over black leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes triple SU carburetors, aftermarket exhaust headers, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a vented hood, a side-opening rear hatch, a wooden shifter, and a Blaupunkt push-button radio. The car was acquired by the owner’s late spouse in 2003, and service in preparation for the sale reportedly included rebuilding the carburetors. This XKE is now offered on dealer consignment in Missouri with an owner’s manual and a clean Illinois title.

The car is finished in white and is believed to have been repainted circa 2003. Equipment includes a vented hood, chrome bumpers, and a side-opening rear hatch. Areas of cracking paint and additional exterior blemishes are viewable in the gallery.

Chrome 15″ wire wheels feature two-eared knockoffs and are mounted with 205/70 Trazano H550-A tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard rear rotors. The selling dealer states the front brakes pulsate when in use.

The bucket seats are upholstered in black leather, and cabin equipment includes a wood shift knob and a Blaupunkt radio.

The leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer. Supplementary gauges are situated within the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The twin-cam 4.2L inline-six is equipped with aftermarket exhaust headers and a trio of SU carburetors. The selling dealer states the carburetors were rebuilt and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

The car number is 1E33717, and the VIN on the current Illinois title is J671E33717.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
