This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that is said to have been in the late owner’s care since 1971 and is believed to have been placed in storage in 1993. Work performed in preparation for the sale involved replacing the spark plugs, fuel pump, ignition points and condenser, brake master cylinder and servo, and brake calipers, pads, and hoses, along with rebuilding the triple SU carburetors and cleaning the fuel tank and lines. The car is finished in yellow over black upholstery and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes chrome 15″ knockoff wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, recessed headlights, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an AM/FM push-button stereo. This XKE coupe is now offered by the selling dealer with recent service records and a California title.
The car is finished in yellow and features a louvered clamshell hood, a left-side mirror, a side-hinged rear hatch, recessed headlights, vented rear quarter windows, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The front fascia is dented, the rear window weatherstripping is deteriorated, and areas of worn paint along the side skirts and in the door jambs are visible.
Chrome-finished 15″ knockoff wire wheels are mounted with 185-section Everest narrow-whitewall tires. A tire is not mounted to the spare wheel. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and work in November 2023 involved replacing the brake master cylinder and servo, caliper assemblies, brake pads, and brake hoses.
The cabin is equipped with bucket seats trimmed in black upholstery along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include a heater, a center armrest, hand-crank side windows, lap belts, and a push-button AM/FM stereo linked to speakers mounted on the sides of the console.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of an inoperative 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and centrally positioned auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 83k miles, a handful of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown, and the selling dealer states that the lower steering column bearing is loose.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors that were rebuilt in November 2023. Additional work performed at that time involved replacing the ignition points and condenser, spark plugs, fuel pump, and fuel tank pickup strainer along with cleaning the fuel tank and lines and performing an oil change. Rust perforation below the battery is noted, and tuning of the carburetors is recommended by the selling dealer.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Exhaust system components were replaced by the selling dealer following the removal of side-exit exhaust pipes. The selling dealer notes that the clutch does not hold strongly.
The car number is 1E34195. The California title is a duplicate and lists the VIN as J671E34195.
