Sellers description:
1968 E type two seater (not a 2+2) coupe finished in factory color dark british racing green, the interior is light tan conolly hides. She has optional chromed wire wheels, and has factory installed air conditioning (not functioning) compressor etc. is out of the car. Has the eared knockoff spinners installed, the original ones are also there. The previous owner had a new larger capacity radiator installed, as well as high output dual fans, this is the last of the small mouth e-types, engine cooling is not a problom with these modefication. The car was advertised in hemmings motor news last year, it was listed at $29900.00, there was a picture with the ad, i bought the car from this ad, from the third owner. we settled at $26000.00, i paid $1075.00 to have her shipped to my home in washington state. Unfortunately i have to sell this lovely car again, due to unforseen circumstances. I am not looking to make a profit, just need to recover most of the purchase cost. The car was restored by the second owner in the late 1980`s, in arizona, then spent most of the time just sitting in the garage, it is of course garaged at this time as well. Although the car looks gorgeous, the paint is not show quality, it has a few small knicks and blemishes here and there, the interior is just about perfect, but there is a small tear in the headliner. The motor is very strong, does not leak, does not smoke, the fully synchronized transmission shifts just fine. the clutch has slight chatter, if one is not used to it. the rest of the drive train and mechanicals are great, shocks, steering is smooth with good feedback and return. this is an old jaguar after all and will need some tinkering, ie; bushings on the front schocks, the map/interior lights are non function, the hood could be aligned a little better as is rattles, i was aware of these issues when i bought her, i was not paying $40000.00+ for a show car. i will make this a ten day auction, that will give a serious buyer time to make arrangements to view the car before bidding, I am a very picky old coot, but you may be even more so, i recommend inspecting a vehicle before purchase. I would not recommend a close coupe e-type, if you are over 6 foot, if you have larger than size eleven/wide feet forget it, you will depress gas, brake and clutch simultaneously. the car is being sold as is, i can not offer a guarantee, the sale is final. it is the purchasers responsibility to pay for shipping, some of the photos listed of the car were taken by mr. Harris (previous owner) just weeks before i got the car, the detail photos were taken here, the car looks exactly as in those photos. this is a numbers matching car. i have clear arizona title, the title has been signed by my Harris to release interest, as well as notarized. Workshop manual-handbook original air cleaner and other various parts are included, the car was also certified by arizona emissions test. she always starts right up, and drives strong!!
