Mileage supported with MOTs from the 1970s
Located in Gosport, Hampshire PO12
This E-Type looks stunning. It still has the ability to stop people in their tracks. They need little introduction. This one has the three magic ingredients needed in classic cars: Provenance. Condition. History.
History
First registered 30th January 1967
Original home market car
The original buff logbook tells us the first owner was the Dealer, P.J Evans in Birmingham
The faded logbook shows the first ‘real’ owner in April 1968 was Richard Burmon of Birmingham
Our vendor understands that Mr Burmon - “Was a wealthy gentleman from Birmingham. He put the E-Type into a garage for some work but then sadly passed away. The family weren't sure where the car was, and it took considerable time to locate it”
A friend of our vendor purchased it as a project. Like so many projects, it stalled
Our vendor took the project on about five years ago.
There are images in the gallery of the large file and, importantly, several original MOTs supporting what is believed to be authentic mileage
Outside
A well sorted E-Type is a wonderful sight. This one does look wonderful. The exterior has been professionally overhauled and various new and expensive items have been renewed. The list of work carried out is impressive. We’ll pick out the highlights.
Resprayed by the professionals at Gosport Automotive
The bonnet assembly was dismantled, overhauled where needed and re-assembled
Serious man hours have clearly gone into making this Jaguar look the way it does
Front and rear bumpers have been replaced
Four new wire wheels and spinners fitted
New matching tyres all round
As you can see various chrome fittings have been renewed
A truly stunning looking Jaguar. Professionally renovated to a very high standard. The result looks top-drawer.
Inside
Inside, the E-Type is beautiful. The condition of the interior is every bit as outstanding looking as the outside. All the work has clearly been carried out to a high standard.
The seat covers are new
The rear load space trim is original
The door cards are also original
With some hard work and the help of various treatments, such as Connolly leather treatment, our vendor’s work means the interior looks striking.
The soft, supple Series 1 upholstery is a pleasure to both look at and sit in. The seats are comfortable and functional. The door cards, carpets, mats and headlining are in good condition. The steering wheel, gear lever, instruments, dials and controls all look equally good.
The Smiths dials, controls, and the vast bank of switches combined with that smart three-spoke sports steering wheel deliver a brilliant classic car experience. We doubt another car like an E-Type will ever be built again. Just one of the many reasons why they remain so desirable.
Mechanicals
The 4.2 litre with manual gearbox is easily the most sought-after combination. Our vendor has not scrimped on the work to the mechanical items.
Rear IRS rebuilt
Differential professionally overhauled
There are some spares such as trailing arm bushes, etc. that will come with this Jaguar
Rear wheel bearings replaced
New discs and pads all round
The engine was removed and stripped

The bottom end was not ignored
New timing chain and tensioners fitted
