The E-Type offered here is a 1968 fixedhead coupé 4.2litre Series 2, 2+2 model with a 4-speed manual gearbox. It is finished in Opalescent Silver Blue and dark blue leather interior with a light patina. The paintwork and bodywork is in generally good all-round condition save for one or two areas on the driver's door where the paint has begun to lightly bubble. We would describe the car as an honest example of a usable classic. The chassis is solid and the vendor has never had any cause for concern with the way the car handles or runs. The engine bay will not win any beauty contests but it is functional and reliable and has recently benefitted from a replaced ignition coil, expansion tank and fresh battery to ensure usability remains.

There are fewer than 40,000 unverified miles on the clock substantiated by some, but not all MoT's. The car has been in long-term current ownership since 1992 and has travelled fewer than 7,000 miles in that time being as it was one of a handful of cars belonging to the vendor.

Offered with current UK MoT and sold on UK V5C registration this is a delightful car that one would be proud to own.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
