I have owned this car since 1982 when I purchased it from Import Motors in Berkley, California.

I am currently in the process of restoring this fine car to its former glory. It has seen better days. It will soon live them again hopefully.

Hi Daniel, the "J67" tag is a California thing. Cars delivered in California usually has a tag with "J" and the two-digit year added to the VIN plate, or near it.

    Roger,
That helps explain it. Thank much. My plate was fastened to rear of my car behind the license plate. The VIN plate is in the engine compartment. Should I relocate this tag, if so where exactly?

I first acquired this 67 E in 1982 after totaling my 72 Porsche in the Berkeley Hills SF Bay Area. Growing up we had a 57 Jag sedan parked in the garage. I drove this E Type from SF to Dallas, TX then it sat for two years. It then spent the next 15 years near Savannah GA. Finally I picked the car up when we lived in Denver in 99. It made the trip w us to San Diego in 02. It has spent the last three years at Mel's Auto and is nearing completion. Not exactly a garage queen, more like a red headed step child.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
