Ebay item 12/10/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $6,100.00 (Reserve not met), 6 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Offered is an extremely rare, 1967 Series I, covered headlight, 4 speed, 2 + 2 coupe with dealer-installed air conditioning. The covered headlight 2 + 2 coupe was only manufactured for one year, July 1966 – July 1967. Less than 2700 cars were produced in total and only a small fraction of which came with the sought after 4 speed gearbox and dealer installed air conditioning. This covered headlight car features its original matching numbers engine with 64,419 miles. The factory ID tag has never been removed and reads as follows:

Car # IE 77059
Body # 4E 52672
Engine # 7F 528229
Gearbox # EJS 12822

The Jag has just been removed from long-term storage where the second owner had maintained it for over twenty years. Service records indicate that the following service had been preformed on the car prior to storage:

Rebuilt alternator
A/C work
Recorded radiator
New coolant expansion tank
Oil pan gasket
Rear crank seal

Cam cover gaskets
Tappet guides

The original “ribbed” floor pans although dented in some areas are in excellent structural and solid condition as are the rockers. The car starts right up but it should have the carburetors rebuilt from lack of use. The clutch, gearbox and electricals all seem to be sound however the hydraulics should be gone through from sitting. The navy paint is uniform but older, maybe 25+ years with some chips and nicks and is crazing mostly prevalently in the bonnet. The bonnet’s structural condition is excellent, never appearing to have been hit, as the “mouth” section is very clean along with the original bumpers and Triplex Glass covers (the windshield is also the original Triplex Glass). The interior is also very original. The leather seats are extremely nice for their age as are the door panels. The dash pad is free of cracks.

This incredibly sleek 2+2 possesses all the desirable features one could hope for in a Series I covered headlight Jag; the 4.2 litre engine, triple SU carburetors, the 4.2 synchronized 4 speed gearbox, dealer A/C, and taller drivers will greatly appreciate the 2+2’s generous leg room and comfort. With the low reserve, this car offers the opportunity for everyone to obtain a coveted Series I 4.2, covered headlight, E Type.
