Listed for sale on the JCNA web site on April 25, 2009. "For Sale - 1967 XKE 4.2 Coupe 2+2, cream with dark blue interior. Matching numbers & color per JDHT Certificate, 63K miles. The car was purchased in August of 2002 and has been garage kept since then. The owner has recently passed on from this world and his wife wants to sell it at a reasonable price.. You will notice that it is equiped with a Series III bonnet. The reason for this is unknown but it is believed that the original Series I bonnet was damaged and the Series III bonnet was immediately available at a very reasonable price. There are over 150 photos available to view at the attached URL link"

I have seen the car and talked with the present owner; it is equipped with a SERIES 2 bonnet- not a series 3 bonnet. It also has series 2 exhaust tips/ends, series 2 wheels and cam covers. From talking to the present owner, her deceased husband was an engineer who loved the car and probably bought the car with the series 2 bonnet as she did not remember her husband making the change over. The car could be put back to it's original state with a few changes- the most difficult and expensive one being the bonnet. I think this is one of the "Series 1 1/4 E-Types" WITHOUT the glass over the headlights but with all of the other series 1 features. It does have three SU carbs and all of it's original Series 1 interior features (toggle switches on dash and original interior).

I just purchased this Series 1 XKE 2+2 Coupe with the intention to either re-sell it immediately OR return it to its original Series 1 bonnet and running gear and then re-sell it on E-Bay. The previous owner had the car since 1982 and kept in in a heated garage so the car is very rust free, runs pretty good but needs brake work to become a "driver".

For sale on craigslist:

pittsburgh.craigslist.org/ctd/1737935479.html

Listed for sale by Coventry Garage LLC, is a 1967 JAGUAR XKE (E-Type) 2+2 Coupe that is in absolutely wonderful, NEVER ANY RUST, condition. We are offering it for sale at $14500.00. (VIN# 1E77588)

This car has all the right features: 4 speed manual transmission, 3 carb 6 cylinder in line XK engine, white exterior with dark blue interior, wire wheels and NO RUST. This 2 DOOR SPORTS COUPE has two small seats in the rear with a luggage area behind the second row seat. There is absolutely NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THIS CAR. The floors, doors, sills, trunk and bonnet are in near perfect condition as the car only has about 56000 miles on it and it looks like its never been driven in the rain. IF YOU HAVE EVER WANTED TO OWN A BRITISH SPORTS CAR, this is the one to buy as the prices on series 1 XKE'S keep on going up. This car runs great, starts quickly and has a nice interior. We have the carpets out of the car presently so you can see the floors. This car has a series 2 Jaguar XKE bonnet (hood) on it. It came originally with a series 1 bonnet (hood) but at sometime prior to 1981 the original bonnet was replaced for unknown reasons (probably was due to a traffic accident at some time). The car also has series 2 cam covers and series 2 wheels- other than that, this car has three SU carbs, small tail lights, small rear bumpers, dash toggle switches, and MATCHING NUMBER ENGINE, BODY TUB AND GEAR BOX. We are presently performing some rear brake work to the car as these cars are prone to sticking brakes after sitting for a while. We found this car locally in a heated garage but it had not been driven in some time.

Additional description from above auction:
By the way, we do have the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust document that shows that this E-Type was built in 1967, was Cream in exterior color with a Dark Blue interior and delivered to it's first owner here in Pittsburgh PA. We are reasonably certain that we purchased this car from the second owner's estate. Also, we just installed new steering column bushings in the steering column because the old bushings were worn and there was some play in the steering- not any more. The air conditioning vents are in pretty good shape and the steering wheel and horn button are in very good shape. We do have more photos of the floors from underneath the car and can send to you. The floors are in very good condition especially at the jacking points and at the large radius arm connections. Ther are no signs that these floors or trunk/boot area were ever worked on as both are in very nice condition.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
