Have had 1968 2 +2 from 1981 to 2012 when it was sold. A new owner has been restoring it back in GB. I have purchased another car a 1995 XJS and looking forward to working on it and enjoying the drive.

    Owned the car since 1980.
Bought it with damage. Drove it for a year then started dismantleing it with hopes of complete restoration by myself. Has been 24 years work in progress. Paint when purchased was wrong color (silver grey) Will paint correct BRG.

underneath. In the front hood the panels and mounts to chassis have rusted off but the outer structure of the hood seems strong. Car has transferable registration which acts as a title.

Hi, I am the new owner of the E type and the car now resides back in the UK, England, Essex.

I plan to restore the vehicle to the original colour which I believe is BRG or Dark Opelecent Green. I will confirm this when I obtain a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

    Hello,

I have owned this car since September 2013. I have fully stripped it and I am currently rebuilding the engine. This car needs a lot of work in all areas. All the pistons were seized, the remnants of a spark plug had to be machined out the head, something had been nesting in the timing gear and rear inner wings. Two pistons had to be freed of by burning flammable liquids in them. It has been rebored as there was corrosion on the liners where water had been standing for years. The crankshaft has been reground and the head & block skimmed. The old pistons will go on ebay sometime as they are high compression ones. The front frames were shot (may look at repairing them one day but sorted some replacements.) The only salvagable bonnet panels were the wings and centre panel. The bonnet frame was used to tow the car so needs repairing as well. Plus points the doors are good, i have all the glass, i'm good at finding bargains, and the body work repairs are not impossible. Will make this car RHD, put a five speed getrag box in and put triple SU carbs on it.

I have quite a bit to do
    Cheers
    Russ

Russ, I was the owner of this car in the USA when I posted the original XKE data. I would love to see some pics of your work if you can share it with me. My email is jkerton@aol.com. It looks like you must have bought the car from the previous poster Jason Adams. I had all intentions of restoring it myself when I bought the car in 1981. Upsetting day when I sold but some life issuers took a different turn. I am sorry for the condition that it was in. Where it was stored was one of my issues. Well hope I can see the progress. Thanks. Jody

    Hi,

No need to apologise. I've seen worse! I'm also finding life gets in the way of car projects.

Quick update. Engine build finished. Sourced some smooth cam covers off a Mk 10 engine. Were covered in paint and gunk but an aluminium polisher did a splendid job for me. Reconditioned the water pump. New exhaust manifolds, valves, timing chains, cam buckets and bearings. Spin on oil filter mod. Converted to manual with an original 2+2 gearbox.

Just finished stripping the rear suspension today, what a job that was. This car is fighting us every step of the way. But it won't win...

    Cheers
    Russ
