    Ebay item 12/5/18
    www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Jaguar-E-Type/254012271797
Current bid: $45,100 reserve not met 4 bids 6 days left in auction, seller bristolcollector, 73k miles.

    Seller's description:
A beautiful and recently restored 2+2 with fresh paint, new interior and original re-built, numbers matching 4.2 liter 6 cylinder, including new pistons, rings and all new seals, gaskets and fittings. The 3 speed automatic transmission was of great concern since past experience left performance wanting. However the expertise of the shop and their contacts combined with new technology and methods has produced a most satisfying result. The Borg Warner model 8 transmission’s faults have been overcome, resulting in a most satisfying driving experience.

The third member, or differential, complete with its cradle, suspension, half shafts, springs and shocks has received the same treatment, which includes the replacement of all bearings, bushings and seals and special attention to pinion alignment. All of the brakes have been completely restored with new lines, pads and fittings and a new servo unit.

Complete and new wiring harnesses were installed front to back as well as all new rubber gaskets, seals, belts and hoses. The air conditioner, heater and their accompanying fittings and controls received the same treatment and both perform as new. The original radiator was removed, disassembled, rebuilt and re-finished then re-installed along with a new water pump. The new all leather interior, which was purchased over 15 years ago, sealed and stored since, was expertly installed along with new padding and sound deadening mats.

Following the mechanical and cosmetic restoration a new front to back stainless exhaust system was installed complete with all new fittings, hangars and gaskets. All this was followed with all new chrome wire wheels, liners, tubes and tires.

The final product is quite striking and receives amazing compliments whenever exhibited. Approximately 150 miles have been added during the shakedown and de-bugging process and it can be said that Sir Lyons choice of an identical car in 1968 was probably based on his and Malcom Sayer’s thorough knowledge of the driving qualities and design acceptance of a willow green 2+2.

The new owner should be equally rewarded.

    Private Party or Dealer: Dealer

This 1968 Jaguar XKE 2+2 spent time in California prior to its acquisition by the selling dealer and benefits from a refurbishment carried out over the past five years. The work is said to have included a glass-out repaint in factory Willow Green and reupholstering the cabin in Suede Green leather as well as reconditioning the 4.2-liter inline-six, 3-speed automatic transmission, and independent rear axle. Approximately 6k miles have been added under current ownership, including 150 shakedown miles since the project was completed. This XKE is offered with five years of service records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and clear Missouri title.

The refinished Willow Green finish is shown up close in several gallery photos below along with the brightwork, bumpers, and lights. A decal from the California Dressage Society remains affixed to the rear window from a previous owner.

Chrome knock-off wheels wear new tires, inner tubes, and liners. The 4-wheel disc brake system reportedly benefits from rebuilt calipers, new hoses, and a reconditioned vacuum servo.

The leather interior upholstery kit was reportedly purchased over 15 years ago and stored until installation along with new padding and sound deadening. The factory air conditioning system, heater and controls have been serviced.

Approximately 74k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, 150 shakedown miles of which have been added since the refurbishment work was completed six months ago.

The 4.2L inline-six and 3-speed automatic transmission were reportedly overhauled during the five-year project. Induction is through dual Stromberg carburetors, and cooling is managed by a re-cored factory radiator paired with a new water pump.

A reproduction stainless exhaust system comes fitted, and new bearings and seals were installed in the differential. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate shows a build date of May 1, 1968 and lists the original configuration, colors, and numbers. Receipts from the past five years accompany the car.
