This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was refurbished between 2022 and 2024 in San Diego, California. The selling dealer, who acquired the car in 2024, states that the body was disassembled and stripped before it was refinished in British Racing Green. The suspension, rear end, and brakes were also overhauled, the 4.2-liter inline-six was serviced, replacement wire wheels were mounted, and the interior was reupholstered with beige leather. The car also has replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel, Europa radio, beige soft top, and cabin heater. This XKE roadster is now offered by the selling dealer with service records and a clean California title.
The selling dealer states that the car was disassembled, the rocker panels were replaced, and the doors, quarter panels, cowl, and trunk lid were repaired and sandblasted before the body was repainted British Racing Green. The weather seals, overriders, lenses, and tan soft top were replaced, and the chrome was re-plated.
Replacement 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Coker Classic Redline tires. The steering rack and column were rebuilt and the suspension and brakes were overhauled during the refurbishment, which included replacing the following components according to the selling dealer:
Brake caliper calipers
Pads
Master cylinder
Hub seals and wheel bearings
Brake hoses and lines
Shocks
Bushings
The floor pans and transmission tunnel were replaced and trunk floor corrosion was repaired. The seats were rebuilt with replacement foam and beige leather covers, the carpeting was replaced, and the dashboard, door panels, center console, arm rests, sun visors, and trunk liner were recovered. The Europa radio was refurbished, and the heater and blower motor were replaced.
The replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel frames refurbished Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows under 24k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was reportedly rebuilt under previous ownership, and during the more recent refurbishment the dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors were rebuilt and the motor mounts, manifold, belts, and hoses were replaced. The fuel pump was also replaced, wiring work was performed, and the alternator was rebuilt.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The crossmember parts, subframe mounting brackets, and clutch cylinders were replaced, and the rear end was rebuilt. At the same time, the springs and brackets were powder-coated black.
The car is titled in California by VIN 1R10632, which omits the “P” prefix.
